Why did Monica put a turkey on her head?

Monica was making an effort to make up for an earlier Thanksgiving incident in which Chandler almost lost a toe. She dresses up as a turkey to make herself look silly and get him to laugh.

Each of Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe recalled their worst Thanksgivings in the S05E08 episode "The One With All the Thanksgivings." Phoebe interrupts Rachel and shares the tale of Joey getting a turkey stuck on his head one Thanksgiving. We also see Monica with a turkey on her head later in the episode as she tries to make amends with Chandler for an earlier Thanksgiving incident.

When Monica was overweight, she had a huge crush on Chandler. One Thanksgiving, while they were together, she overheard Chandler comment that Monica was fat, which served as the catalyst and inspiration for Monica to start dieting. The following year, after dramatically reducing her weight and having Chandler swoon over her, she didn’t exactly plan for revenge but accidentally cuts Chandler's toe. Chandler, meanwhile, was unaware of how and why Monica had lost so much weight.

Chandler, however, became enraged and complained about how frequently he was referred to as "Sir Limps-a lot." He storms out of the room, embarrassed by the memory. In an effort to cheer him up, Monica danced around while sporting a turkey on her head, sunglasses, and a hat. This is significant because it was the first time Chandler accidentally confessed his love to Monica. He simply laughed and said, "I love you."

Was the turkey that appeared in Friends a real turkey?

The writer of the Friends episode, Greg Malins, discussed an intriguing aspect of ‘The One With All the Thanksgivings’. " We wanted --- I especially wanted --- a real turkey. Just because I wanted Matt to have to put his head into a turkey. The prop department did their due diligence, but it didn't exist. The biggest turkey ever for sale is not big enough to fit a human head. I remember them coming to us and saying, 'We have to build it.' So we made it out of foam."

You probably assumed that a real turkey was used for those scenes in the Friends Thanksgiving episode. The logistics of doing something like that would be unbelievable. Can you imagine being asked to cover your head in real raw meat as an actor five years into a hugely successful TV show without requesting a significant pay increase just for that? And there simply aren't any real turkeys with cavities large enough to securely fit an adult human head in them, as Greg Malins pointed out when he discussed the show with Entertainment Weekly.

Kevin S. Bright, the series' director and producer, later discussed how elaborate the turkeys had to be to provide the actors with some level of comfort; they were reportedly very expensive to make and even had vents for easier breathing and mesh so they could see out of them. The thing was worn by Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox.

Did Monica put her head in a real turkey, in 2020?

Cox has reportedly been troubled by that scene ever since. On Thanksgiving, the actress said, "If I get one more goddamn GIF with that turkey on my head, I'm just gonna snap."

The Friends star recreated Monica's infamous turkey head dance for Thanksgiving, 2020, but this time she used a real, raw turkey. Co-star Lisa Kudrow expressed their approval of the hilarious video, but she has since shared outtakes of the "gross truth" that went into creating the popular clip.

The new video, which comes with a "vegan discretion advised" warning, shows Cox performing the stunt repeatedly while wrapping her head in plastic wrap.

"It’s really f**king gross," as she works to position the turkey, she says, but once it was on her head, she had to remove it quickly because "That bone hurts! Wah! It really hurts." In another bit, she said, "It’s so disgusting," as she fought to stand straight up with it on. Someone was seen helping her and encouraging her to just do it quickly, but that didn’t help. "Give me that towel on my head," she said, to act as a buffer between the heavy bird and her head, adding, "That hurts like a motherf**ker."

"Who’s got the behind-the-scenes footage?" One commenter wrote, "The dedication," in reference to the outtakes. France Tan stated, "COURT!! God, this is hilarious!" Actor Garret Dillahunt wrote that there was cause for worry as well, "Dude. No. Do you need help? Text me. blink quickly three times. I'll come for you."

Who is Monica Geller?

David Crane and Marta Kauffman created Monica Geller as a fictional character for the hit sitcom Friends. Monica is Jack and Judy Geller's child and Ross' younger sister. Just like the rest of her family, Monica is Jewish. She had a slightly more difficult upbringing than Ross, marked by the fights she and her brother had (some culminating in memorable events such as the Geller Cup, which took place every Thanksgiving). Additionally, she had and still does not get along with her parents, particularly with her mother, who frequently favors Ross over her.

On Thanksgiving Day, 1987, she met Chandler Bing at her parents' home. Until she overheard him refer to her as Ross' "fat sister", she had a crush on him and even decided to become a chef after he said he liked her macaroni and cheese. She was so humiliated that she resolved to shed every last ounce of extra weight before he saw her again. By Thanksgiving of 1988, she had reached her objective. She was trying to get him naked and seduce him when she accidentally dropped a knife, cutting off one of his toes.

Although she is considerate, friendly, and kind, Monica is perhaps best known for her obsession with cleanliness (according to a classification of cleanliness, "Monica-clean" is even cleaner than "Health Department-clean"). She is also referred to as "high maintenance" by Phoebe and Rachel. In addition to being a neat freak, Monica can also be a little competitive, and she hates losing. Although not as much as Chandler, Ross, Rachel, or even Phoebe, Monica has a more subdued sense of humor than her friends.
