The Ultimatum: Queer Love is set to be the upcoming installment in the Ultimatum franchise. The series is gearing up to welcome five queer couples who feel a little stagnant in their relationships on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Although the upcoming show is similar to The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, there are certain aspects that are very different.
One such difference between the two shows is the host. While the previous installment saw Nick and Vanessa Lachey as hosts, the couple has received a lot of backlash recently. The Lacheys were accused of being biased towards some cast members of Love is Blind season 4, which ended in April 2023.
Furious fans decided to take matters into their own hands and started a petition to have the couple removed from the upcoming season of the show. While the fans did get over 40000 signatures on their petition, the couple is reportedly still appearing as hosts of Love is Blind season 5.
However, it seems like Netflix did listen to the fans as the platform replaced the couple with JoAnna Garcia Swisher as the host of The Ultimatum: Queer Love. That being said, JoAnna signed on as the host of the upcoming show in November 2022, a long time before season 4 of Love is Blind was even aired.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love is set to air soon. The upcoming series will feature five queer couples as they participate in the show in order to figure out whether their relationships are worth it and marry their partner or find someone new to leave the show with.
Set to appear as the show's host is actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher. The star isn't unfamiliar with Netflix shows as she previously appeared on Netflix's Sweet Magnolias. The 43-year-old actress has worked in several other shows and films since she started her career in the 1990s.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love’s host was born in Tampa Florida in August 1979 and has been acting since she was 10 years old. She first appeared on screens during Superboy in 1992 followed by playing Samantha on Are You Afraid of the Dark for two seasons from 1994 to 1996 while she was still in high school.
She was a student at Florida State University where she decided to pursue her passion in acting full-time and moved to Los Angeles. In 2001, she appeared in CW’s Reba, a show that she was on for six years before appearing in Privileged and Gossip Girl.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love host also appeared in Better with You, Animal Practice, Astronaut Wives Club, Once Upon a Time, and The Mindy Project. She was seen in Not Another Teen Movie and American Pie 2.
The creator of the show Chris Coelen spoke to Variety about the decision to replace the Lacheys with JoAnna Garcia Swisher. He said that she was in the "Netflix family" and has done a good job of hosting the show.
Chris added that Swisher was very passionate about the hosting and explained why they decided to have a different host for the upcoming show. Coelen noted that the team wanted to keep Ultimatum: Marry or Move On and Ultimatum: Queer Love as two different franchises.
Chris Coelen stated that while there are slight differences in the show, they’re similar in “their DNA” so it made sense to have a different host for the show.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love is set to premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 3 am ET.
