Despite the stringent criticism aimed at it, there still seem to be plenty of takers for Fast X, the tenth installment in the overly long-running franchise, Fast and Furious. The entire waiting period has been filled with criticism and hate for the franchise, primarily because of the stretched storyline and increasingly unreal circumstances in the plot that began with a quite grounded storyline.
However, the box-office collection for Fast X seems to tell a different story from its initial response. The film has earned a whopping $319 million on its opening weekend worldwide, which is quite a strong figure for the film that viewers initially said they never wanted.
Originally comprising Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in the driving seats (quite literally), the Fast and Furious franchise has been around since the very early 2000s. This could be one of the reasons for the franchise's continuing popularity, something that is evident from the grand collection in theaters at a time when going to films is becoming increasingly rare.
But this news has thrown a shade of confusion among the film fanbase, who are not sure how Fast X managed to achieve this figure.
How are fans reacting to Fast X's box office collection?
In short, most viewers are just surprised that a Fast and Furious film is this relevant in 2023. With the new age of streaming, plenty of content, and the deteriorating quality of the franchise in question, no one hoped that this would become a blockbuster.
But after the release, it seems that this Vin Diesel starrer is not far from that achievement.
Fast X premiered on May 19, 2023. The film is slated to be the penultimate entry in the franchise.
It features an ensemble cast comprising Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron.
