Elite season 8 is currently in the works. Carlos Montero, co-creator of the Spanish teen drama, confirmed recently at a press conference that the series is right now in the filming stage. Bankrolled by Zeta Studios, the TV series hit Netflix on October 5, 2018, and has aired 56 episodes across seven seasons already.
Based on Montero’s assertion, it can be assumed that Elite Season 8 will most likely arrive next year. If a tentative release window is to be guessed, it would be Autumn 2024 (September to November).
This is because season 7 was released on October 20, 2023, and the next season will premiere a year later, as per the annual release trend set by Netflix for the show.
Elite season 8 will deal with a lot of interesting storylines
Ever since its release, Elite has left viewers divided. While some Netflix subscribers considered it a guilty watch, others disliked it outright and were also surprised when Elite season 8 was announced way back in July.
In October, just two days before season 7 started streaming, the OTT giant declared that Elite season 8 would be its last. While attesting to that, Montero expressed his “great regret" (because the series is ending) and hailed the “several incredible years” the team spent in creating the drama.
Deadline quoted him as saying:
“Elite changed everyone’s life, there are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to be now world stars, it is happening to this cast and it is a pride to have contributed to that and to know that they have seen us all over the world and liked it.”
As for the cast, Elite season 8 will introduce stars from Killer Book Club Ane Rot and Nuno Gallego from UPA Next. Meanwhile, Mina el Hammani, who was a recurring cast member for the initial three seasons, will be back as Nadia.
The other actors who reportedly will appear in season 8 are:
- Ander Puig
- Carmen Arrufat
- Álvaro de Juana
- Ana Bokesa
- Álex Pastrana
- André Lamoglia
- Valentina Zenere
- Carla Díaz
- Martina Cariddi
- Adam Nourou
- Manu Ríos
- Mirela Balic
- Fernando Líndez
- Gleb Abrosimov
- Ivan Mendes
- Alejandro Albarracin
- Maribel Verdu
Set in the fictional high school named Las Encinas, season 7 of the thriller ended with the mysterious death of Raûl, Iván's decision to leave town, and a lot of chaos. Raûl’s sudden demise, caused by Carmen pushing him off the balcony, was recorded by Dalmar, Joel and Omar’s flatmate. So, basically, Carmen and Chloe’s fate hangs in balance right now, thanks to Dalmar.
Elite season 8's next storyline may center around Iván's decision to leave the town in order to participate in an exchange program in South Africa. What will happen to his relationship with Joel? Will the latter try to stop him?
Meanwhile, Isadora discovered that Didác was working for the cops and that their families were employed under Rocìo’s mother, Catalina. Their relationship was difficult, but what will happen now?
As mentioned earlier, Nadia will enter Elite season 8, which probably will change her brother Omar’s condition. Iván may also know who tried to knock him off while Eric’s bond with his family may get ample footage in the next season.
Montero assured that season 8 will end on a “high note,” so anticipation about the same is pretty high.
The first seven seasons of Elite are right now streaming on Netflix.
