Prospective customers should also be aware that the organization is in the middle of a labor dispute that began on December 20, 2024. Several workers in high-profile stores in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are on strike, demanding better wages, working conditions, and benefits.

Executive Vice President and Chief Partner Officer Sara Kelly released a statement on December 23, 2024, assuring that "only a small number of stores" were affected by the strike. The CPO also added:

"The overwhelming majority of Starbucks stores across the country have opened as planned and are busy with customers enjoying the holidays."

According to a Newsweek report dated December 24, 2024, the strike could extend into New Year's Eve if an agreement isn't reached between the company and staff. Customers are, therefore, advised to confirm opening hours from their local stores by using the store locator on the company's website.

Some locations might implement modified hours on New Year's Eve due to a lesser staff population or product demand. Some outlets from the coffee chain operate a 365-day opening policy, promising offerings of hot coffee every day.

According to a Fox 4 News report dated December 25, 2024, other stores may be closed or operate with reduced hours due to the holidays. Previously, in November 2023, the coffee company had informed customers about a similar approach of modifying their store hours due to the holidays. The statement on their website read:

“This holiday season, Starbucks store hours vary by location and stores may occasionally adjust their hours based on business and customer needs.”
