Will there be a season 2 of Citadel?

Citadel is an American spy action thriller TV series that is also known for being the second most expensive series in the history of TV shows. Starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in titular roles, the show is created by Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil for Amazon Prime. The executive producers of the show are the Russo brothers who are famous for directing Marvel's four blockbuster movies.

Citadel has been produced on a budget of $300 million. For the unversed, the show will have its spin-off shows in different languages set in the Italian Alps, India, Spain, and Mexico. Currently, five episodes of the show have been released and the sixth and final episode is awaiting its release. The episodes have received mixed reviews from critics.

Has Citadel been renewed for the second season?

According to reports by The Hollywood Reporter, Citadel was renewed for a season two way before its debut. The makers had made a deal to renew the show for a second season in March 2023, while the series's first episode aired on April 28, 2023. Although the makers did make a deal for the renewal of the series' second season, it has not been finalized yet.

During an interview with CinemaBlend, one of Citadel's creators, David Weil, addressed the reports of the series not being officially renewed for season 2 yet and expressed that he is confident about the series receiving a green light for a second season.

Weil said, “We’re not officially… I know, there was a report on it. We’re not officially greenlit for a second season. However, what I can say is that you know, the Citadel universe is robust, and there are so many threads by the end of the season that would be very thrilling to pick up in a second season and hopefully beyond. So there’s a lot of mythology to unpack. You know, myself and the other members of the creative team – we’ve been living with this series for so many years now. So, you know, sort of strap in, I would say, because there’s certainly a ride to come, hopefully.”

What will be the filming location for Citadel's second season?

While season one of Citadel was majorly shot at Harlaxton Manor, Harlaxton, England, and some of the scenes were shot and reshot in Slovenia, Morocco, Valencia, and Atlanta, making sure it gave out a wintery vibe through the episodes, Collider claimed that the makers have made a choice on the shooting location for the second season.

Although the series has not been renewed yet for another season, Collider claims that the makers have chosen California as the shooting location for the second season. It is to be noted that there are no official confirmations of these reports as of now. Neither is there any official confirmation of the series being renewed for another season.
