Yellowjackets season 2 episode 8 recap: Why did Shauna attack Nat? 

Yellowjackets season 2 episode 8 was titled It Chooses. It was directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer and written by Sarah L. Thompson & Liz Phang.

The official synopsis of the episode read:

"Callie encounters an old flame, Van proves goalies never say die, most of the adults intentionally commune in the sharing shack, and, Lottie, baby, I hear the blues are calling for tossed salad and scrambled eggs. Mercy!"

The determination Shauna has to survive at this point is baffling as she had no second thoughts before acting. She had brutally beaten up Lottie previously but didn't manage to kill her.

So instead, the group played a game of cards and decided that the next meal would be the flesh of their friend, Nat. Shauna attacked Nat as soon as this was decided.

Yellowjackets season 2 episode 8 recap: What was Shauna hiding from the rest of the girls?

Like almost every Yellowjacket episode, this episode too controlled the narrative from the perspectives of both, the past and the present.

Shauna had brutally beaten Lottie and tensions between the group went from bad to worse. They were all starving and survival was getting harder.

It was then revealed that Akilah's pet mouse had died a long time ago. She was not aware of it as she discovered it in this episode when she saw Taissa playing with its corpse.

More secrets were revealed in the present day as Shauna told everyone about Adam while Misty revealed that it was Taissa who had hired Jessica Roberts to investigate all of them.

Misty had already killed Roberts at this point and even figured out that Jeff was the blackmailer from season 1 and Shauna had been protecting her. This information enraged Taissa, Nat, and Misty.

Meanwhile, Walker received the news that the remains of Adam's body were finally discovered. His source also told him that he was going to inform the cops about this. This was bad news since he speculated that it was Misty who had taken Adam's life.

We again went back to the past where a very weak Lottie told everyone to eat her body once she dies. But the group tried to figure out another way to kill their hunger.

After a game of eni-mini-mani-mo with a deck of cards, it was decided that Nat would be the next to be killed for consumption. Shauna attacked her but she managed to escape with the help of Travis. The other girls began running after her with weapons.

Back in the present, Lottie proposed to the girl by playing a suicidal game of Russian Roulette but with poison. Her theory was that a sacrifice had to be made to eradicate the mental/physical problems the girls were facing.

We are again transported to the past where assistant coach Ben found a couple of very eerie drawings made by Javi from the cabin. Ben discovered the tree from the drawings which apparently had a large entrance.

Javi began taking Nat there to protect her from the other girls. Unfortunately, he fell into a frozen lake.

Nat tried to save him but Misty stopped her. Misty told her that if she saved him, the rest of the group would kill her. After the group got the confirmation that Ben had frozen to death, they pulled him out to be cannibalized.
