Boxing queen Claressa Shields will be looking to further her reign as she faces Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, on July 27.
'T-Rex' Shields (14-0, 2 KOs) is set to clash against Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse (7-1, 2 KOs) in the women's heavyweight division, as the 'GWOT' is preparing to conquer another weight class. The last time she was in action was against Maricela Cornejo in Michigan, where she won via UD to retain her middleweight title.
This time, Shields would be looking forward to making a thudding impact in her home state by jumping two weight classes and usurping Canada's Lepage-Joanisse, who won the vacant WBC women's heavyweight belt against Argentina's Abril Argentina Vidal via split decision (97-93, 97-93, 94-96) in March this year.
The undercard embellishes some quality bouts, as Michel Rivera (25-1, 14 KOs) is set to take on Hugo Raldan (22-0, 7 KOs) in a super-lightweight contest. Meanwhile, IBF #12 Shohjahon Ergashev (24-1, 21 KOs) will square off against Illinois' Julian Smith (8-0, 5 KOs), who boasts an amateur record of 84-7 under the belt.
