Eric Bugenhagen was a college wrestling standout, earning his letters four years in a row and also serving as his team's strength and conditioning coach. An avid weight lifter, Bugenhagen has also dabbled in the world of powerlifting competitions.
He was recruited by the WWE with no professional wrestling experience, and made his debut in 2017, only to be derailed by a devastating knee injury. After nearly a year on the shelf, the Bug is back, and he brought his air guitar with him.
Why he could be the next NXT champion: Bugenhagen is a 'just add water' sensation, a man who is already over with the NXT audience just on a few performances. His amateur wrestling background gives him legitimacy, and he is pound for pound one of the strongest men not only in NXT but all of WWE.
