#2 How 'Chris Jericho vs. Darby Allin' showcases both superstars as polar opposites in a good way
Even though AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Darby Allin are characterized by their unorthodox in-ring appearances, both of them have a lot of interesting dissimilarities showcased during their street fight last night.
Ironically, a young, up and coming version of Chris Jericho from the 90s would have hated his veteran persona from 2019.
Every great promotion has old veterans solidifying their positions as industry giants as well as young guns trying to dethrone the same veterans to kickstart a new era. And Chris Jericho seems to have experienced both sides of the equation.
Darby Allin was the young gun last night, who seemed to perform two moves in the time it took Chris Jericho to lay a mean clothesline, but as it is in any great story, the veteran seems to pull off a victory with the least amount of effort involved.
I love that Jericho in 2019 has a unique way of approaching storytelling in wrestling because it's not about the moves anymore - it is all about generating the maximum preferable reaction from fans during every single moment.
The fact that he duct-taped Allin's hands to his back went a long way to establish Darby Allin as a tough individual who can adapt to drastic situations. I would certainly love if the two of them went at it again.
