Call him the Cleaner, the Best Bout Machine or the best wrestler in the world. Just don't call him small time, not anymore.
Kenny Omega came onto the radar of international wrestling fandom when he faced off against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom for the coveted IWGP World Championship. Their match was so praised by fans and critics alike that it was viewed by people who had never even heard of New Japan Pro Wrestling before.
Omega followed up with another stellar performance, where he faced Okada in a best two out of three falls match. The match was rated seven stars by Dave Meltzer, as harsh a critic as you'll find in pro wrestling.
Despite being well known to pro wrestling fandom, Kenny Omega doesn't have the mainstream appeal of men like John Cena, The Rock or even The Miz. However, with a prime time wrestling show coming, in which he is the no questions asked top star, that could all be changing.
Kenny Omega in prime time could begin a new pro wrestling revolution, just as Hulk Hogan in prime time kick-started the wrestling boom of the 1980s.
