What's the story?

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger has said he would be very interested in working for All Elite Wrestling.

In case you didn't know

Debuting in the WWE in late 2008, Swagger captured the ECW, World Heavyweight, and United States Championships before leaving the company in 2017 for other ventures.

Before this, Swagger was an accomplished amateur wrestler, competing for the University of Oklahoma and was a 2006 Collegiate All-American.

Most recently, Swagger joined MMA and will have his first fight with Bellator at Bellator 214 next week.

The heart of the matter

Speaking to the New York Post, the All-American American said that he has already contacted AEW founders Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks.

I absolutely would love to work with Cody and the Bucks. I invited them to the Bellator fight. So we will have to see if they show up.”

Swagger also said how he believes AEW will change the wrestling scene, and provide legit competition to the WWE, who have dominated the United States wrestling scene for decades.

"Honestly, I feel like it started a couple of years ago with Drew McIntyre doing such a good job on the independent scene and really showing, at least a lot of the wrestlers in WWE, that there is life outside of the WWE and that the independent scene is a viable place to make consistent money where you can provide for you family."

What's next?

Swagger will have his debut fight at Bellator 214, against J.W. Kiser, who has a record of 1-1-0.

Bellator 214 will take place January 26, at The Forum, in Inglewood, California, and will air live on Paramount Network and DZAN.
