What's the story?
At the recently concluded All Elite Wrestling ticket announcement party, the likes of Aja Kong, Best Friends, Sammy Guevara, and Kenny Omega were all announced as official AEW signings.
Having finished up with New Japan Pro Wrestling, fans have been desperate in finding out what the future had in store for Omega and whether he was on his way to the WWE or not. However, as expected, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion decided to stick with his good friends and officially signed for AEW.
In case you didn't know...
On 1st January 2019, former Bullet Club members Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks officially unveiled their own wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling, as the Elite trio announced their partnership with The Khan Family.
Shortly afterwards, AEW officially announced their first signings, as the promotion confirmed the likes of Chris Jericho, Britt Baker, Jimmy Havoc, Pac, and SCU as part of their roster. Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega's future was also in question when the Canadian born star lost his title to Hiroshi Tanahashi at the Wrestle Kingdom 13.
The heart of the matter
Ever since Kenny Omega's contract with NJPW came to an end, fans have been patiently wondering if 'The Best Bout Machine' would be re-signing with NJPW, heading to the WWE, or finally announce his affiliation with AEW.
Well, last night at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, not only was Omega announced as AEW's latest acquisition but the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was announced as an Executive Vice President of the promotion.
In a heartwarming tweet, Omega was officially welcomed to AEW by his good friend and Elite stablemate, Matt Jackson, who tweeted out claiming that they were never willing to change the world without their good friend Omega.
And now that 'The Best Bout Machine' has well and truly joined All Elite Wrestling, it looks like The Elite and co. are truly on the verge of changing the world and the universe.
What's next?
All Elite Wrestling's first ever show takes place on the 25th of May in Las Vegas, billed as Double or Nothing.
The show already features the likes of Omega, The Bucks, Cody, The Lucha Brothers, Britt Baker, Aja Kong, Pac and many more notable names.
