What's the story?
Big news coming out of Jacksonville, Florida tonight during the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL game as a certain former WWE Superstar and his beautiful wife were spotted in the press box with the owner of the Jaguars.
In case you didn't know...
Cody Rhodes has been making headlines here as of late for a couple of different reasons. For starters, his contract with Ring of Honor Wrestling will be expiring on December 14th, which is the same date as ROH "Final Battle", and he has stated in the past that he very well may be wrestling his final match in ROH against Jay Lethal for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship.
Ironically, Jay Lethal is the first wrestler Cody had an ROH match with when he made his debut a few years ago.
Secondly, Cody has been teasing the internet wrestling community with the impending announcement that will not only shock the wrestling world but may very well be bigger than anyone is thinking.
The speculation and rumors that have been building up lately are around the idea that Cody may be starting their own wrestling promotion: "All Elite Wrestling" or "A.E.W." for short. They have also been busy acquiring various trademarks in relation to several names for pay-per-view event titles and a weekly show. You can find all the information about that here.
The heart of the matter
A fan at the stadium caught a glimpse of Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi relaxing in the press box with Jacksonville Jaguars owner, Shahid Khan. This would normally not be considered big news by any stretch, but considering the teases from Cody Rhodes regarding a new wrestling promotion being formed, this fuels the speculation that he may be in talks with Shahid Khan to be one his major financial backers.
What's next?
Cody will be wrestling Jay Lethal on December 14th at ROH "Final Battle" for the World Heavyweight Championship in what is being advertised as Cody's potential last match for the organization.
