What’s the story?

It’s been previously reported that Impact Officials are searching for a new home in 2019 and now it appears that company officials are in talks with three networks according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as reported at Wrestling Inc.

In case you didn't know...

Various sources have reported on Impact Wrestling searching for a new home in 2019. Impact has been on Pop TV since July 2016, but have struggled to reach the company average ratings of 1.0 million viewers they had on Spike TV.

During the week of the company biggest show of the year, Bound For glory, Pop management informed company officials that they were changing their prime slot of 8 pm to 10 pm. There’s still no reasoning on why Pop decided to move Impact off the prime slot; however, a possible motive might’ve been the declining ratings the company has had in 2018.

On its first week in the 10 pm time slot, the show drew 98,000 viewers – the lowest in company history. The following week rebounded a bit with 105,000 viewers and since then, the ratings have been on an upswing; however, none of the ratings have managed to pass the 200,000 viewer mark.

The forced change to 10 pm was seen as a major step backwards in the Impact and Pop relationship. Impact’s contract with the network ends on December 31st.

The heart of the matter

Impact Wrestling officials have been searching for a new network their product can call home in 2019 and according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is in talks with Syfy – which use to be the home of Smackdown, NXT, and WWE ECW, TruTV, and WGN America and other networks.

There’s no word on how deep the conversations are between the three networks.

What’s next?

As previously stated, Impact’s deal with Pop TV expires at the end of December. However, sources claim the network will continue to air Impact for the early part of 2019.
