This week's edition of Impact Wrestling was a big show centring around a couple key storylines and every segment seemed to build nicely to the next. This company that many have dismissed as being on their last legs way too many times continues to impress and put on really great pro wrestling matches in the face of all their doubters.
Now it's only a matter of time to see if Impact Wrestling's relocation to Canada could spell a difference in turning a new leaf for the company. But first, Impact Wrestling had a big show prepared on December 14th, 2017 because they had a Knockouts Champion to decide.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Sienna vs. KC Spinelli vs. Allie vs. Madison Rayne (Number One Contender Match)
Even though the Impact Knockouts Championship was yet to be decided, at least we got to know who would be facing the new champion once she is crowned.
After a rather confusing start, these women started off at a pretty good pace that continued throughout. Allie hit Sienna with a codebreaker but the pin was broken up, and Allie didn't like that at all. Sienna went for the AK-47 but Allie snuck in and rolled Sienna up for the pinfall.
Winner: Allie via Pinfall (New Number One Contender)
Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley vs. Taiji Ishimori and Dezmond Xavier
This was a typical tag match with nothing really special although everyone in the match really did bring something special to the table. Dezmond Xavier took a lot of damage for his team and ended up making a hot tag to rally for the babyfaces.,
In the end, Ishimori caught Trevor Lee with a roll-up pin to pick up the pinfall for his team.
Winners: Taiji Ishimori and Dezmond Xavier via Pinfall
Impact continues
Dan Lambert cut a promo about American Top Team while talking about how awesome they are. Then a clip was shown from last week's episode. Lambert told the rest of ATT to take the night off because he and Bobby Lashley could handle it.
James Storm and Moose walked through the backstage and they didn't look very happy at all.
Also backstage, Johnny Impact cut a promo to Petey Williams when Alberto El Patron showed up and complained about being forced to tag with Impact and Williams. El Patron said their tag team is a "happy accident." It doesn't look like there will be much teamwork going on in this match.
Alberto El Patron, Johnny Impact, Petey Williams vs. Eli Drake, Chris Adonis, and Jimmy Jacobs
Jimmy Jacobs came out before the match started and introduced a guy who would be replacing him as the third heel tag team partner. Jacobs said he promised he would get them a partner but he got them something so much better. Then he introduced Kongo Kong.
This match had some pretty good action with back and forth spots where moves were traded pretty well. Alberto El Patron eventually had to switch things up when he got in the match and hit the Backstabber on Impact who was his own partner.
Eli Drake hit Patron who rolled out of the ring at that point. Petey William tried to hit a hurricanrana on Kongo Kong, but he was just caught and powerbombed into the crowd.
Kongo Kong then carried Petey Williams toward the backstage area and that was the last we saw of Williams. Impact hit the Starship Pain but his pin was interrupted by Alberto El Patron who then destroyed him on the entrance ramp.
After that, Alberto El Patron slid in and picked up the win for himself. There were a lot of stories going on during that match.
Winners: Alberto El Patron, Johnny Impact, and Petey Williams via Pinfall
After the contest was over, Alberto El Patron grabbed Eli Drake's Impact Global Title and posed with it for a bit.
Other Segments
Joseph and Chandler Park were backstage talking about how their business is booming due to the success of their insurance commercials. Chandler Park says 2018 is going to be the year he becomes a pro wrestler. Joseph Park says the ring is no joking matter and recommends against it to which Chandler replied, "Parks are fighters!"
Moose and James Storm were headed to the ring to call out American Top Team. They weren't happy with them in the slightest.
There was a funny moment when they confused ATT for the telecommunications company and James Storm said his "internet service is crap."
Moose said Bobby Lashley can't beat him in a one-on-one match and Lashley should change his nickname to "B*tch Boy Bobby" which is highly family friendly content. But of course, this got a "B*tch Boy Bobby" chant going.
James Storm told Dan Lambert he respected what he did in MMA, but he didn't like him disrespecting pro wrestling. Then Storm said Lambert is a "pile of poo poo" which was just neat to hear coming from a grown man.
Dan Lambert said Storm has been Impact Wrestling since day one (except for Storm's stint in NXT and well, now because he left the company). Lambert said if they can cut the head off of the snake then Impact Wrestling will sell their snake oil to the mindless sheep which happens to be the fans.
The whole thing ended with Lambert spitting in Storm's face and KM showed up to take a Superkick.
The Main Event
Rosemary vs. Laurel Van Ness (Knockouts Championship Match)
These two women fought hard getting to this moment and neither of them wanted to leave without the top female prize in Impact Wrestling. There were lots of people behind Rosemary who's popularity has grown even more since Sexy Star shot on her at TripleMania.
They had a nice match and didn't go easy on each other at all. Laurel Van Ness kept her offence simple, yet brutal and it seemed to work well for her. The action made its way out to the floor where Rosemary hit a devastating exploder suplex on Laurel Van Ness to the thin mats on the outside. That looked like it hurt alot.
The finish came after Rosemary attempted to hit The Mist but Laurel Van Ness ducked under it. LVN got some of Rosemary's own Mist in her hands and put it in Rosemary's eyes. After that, Laurel Van Ness hit the Unprettier and got the win to pick up the vacant championship.
Winner: Laurel Van Ness via Pinfall to win the Impact Knockouts Championship
After the match was over, Laurel Van Ness celebrated with her new title. This was a rather odd turn of events backstage because Laurel Van Ness had reportedly requested her release from Impact Wrestling and then they put the Knockouts Title on her.
Sami Callihan and Konnan's Summit
The show wasn't over because there was a closing segment between Konnan and Sami Callihan. Sami Callihan was handed a piece of paper and set off to find Konnan and eventually found the LAX leader sitting on a bench.
Konnan tried to tell Callihan he's oblivious to his own ignorance and said it's not worth his time to even try and talk to him. Then Sami Callihan told Konnan to shut up and said oVe is going to take over and there's nothing LAX can do about it.
Konnan said LAX wanted a match for the Impact Tag Team Titles but Callihan said that would only happen if LAX said they would leave Impact Wrestling if they lost to which Konnan agreed.
But before he left, Sami Callihan blew a fireball in Konnan's face to close the show while Konnan didn't look too happy as he declared it was personal now.
