Women wrestling has seen its ups and downs. There are a lot of influential women who took the wrestling sport by storm and left a mark in the industry. Mae Young, The Fabulous Moolah, Bull Nakano, Lita, Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch, Paige, Gail Kim and of course Chyna are some of the most influential figures in the world of women's wrestling who defined women wrestling in their respective era's. Then came a time when women in wrestling were not being used for their wrestling skills but for their looks. It was the time of divas, women were portrayed as eye candy and as sex symbols to increase their fanbase. Matches like pillow fights were more popular than a normal wrestling match during that time.
The fans did not like this and voiced their opinion, and somehow their voices were heard by the WWE management and we got the Women's revolution. The current state of women's wrestling in WWE, as well as the independent circuit, is decent and we're getting to see women compete in hardcore, hell in a cell, iron man matches and get the main event spot.
It is good to see women being portrayed as strong, fierce instead of mere eye candies.
In this list, I am going to talk about women who are strong and beautiful at the same time, I have only included active wrestlers that's why one of the strongest women who has broken all stereotypes, Chyna won't be included in this list.
So, here are the top 3 strongest women in wrestling.
#1 Jordynne Grace
Jordynne Grace a.k.a Thick Mama Pump has that cute yet intimidating in-ring presence. She is a powerhouse with an amazing physique and she is breaking all
the stereotypes with her muscular appearance and it is hard to believe that she is just 22 years old.
She made her wrestling debut in the year 2011 working in the independent circuit for a few years. She unsuccessfully challenged Jazz for the NWA World Women's Championship on 28th October 2018. On 1st September 2018, Grace participated in a 19-person over the budget battle royale to determine the number one contender for the ROH World Championship on All In and she was the only female in the match and managed to eliminate Brian Cage.
She is currently signed to Impact Wrestling. If you have not seen her wrestle, check her Impact Wrestling debut in the video above.
The one thing that makes this lady special is the blend of power and agility that is not very common in the women's division of wrestling, from bear hugs to shotgun dropkicks she is a total package inside the ring and that too at such a young age.
#2 Jessicka Havok
Jessicka Havok made her debut as a professional wrestler in the year 2004 and worked for various independent wrestling promotions including Main Event World League, where she won the MEWL Cruiserweight Championship.
She joined Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU), an all-women wrestling promotion and won the WSU Championship twice. She then went on to work for various other promotions including Combat Zone Wrestling, before joining Impact Wrestling (then known as TNA) under the name Havok.
During her time at Impact Wrestling, she went on to defeat Gail Kim for the Knockouts Championship. Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 120 kg, Havok is one of the most powerful and feared women's wrestler. Her chokeslam and tombstone piledriver leaves a devastating impact on her opponents.
She had a WWE tryout in 2015 but due to the use of racist and homophobic slurs in her tweets from her account from years before she was not hired by WWE.
You can check out her match with Gail Kim for the Knockouts Championship in the video below.
The one thing that makes Jessicka Havok special is her unconventional moveset and wrestling style along with her size, she is one of the tallest female wrestlers. Havok has a unique gimmick that suits her personality and her moveset.
#3 Awesome Kong/ Kharma
Awesome Kong made her debut in 2002 fighting for various Japanese promotions, winning various singles and tag team titles. She debuted for Impact Wrestling on 11th October 2007 and caught everyone's attention with her intimidating presence. She had an amazing feud with Gail Kim for the Knockouts Championship and won her first Knockouts Championship by defeating Kim with the help of her manager Raisha Saeed.
She then started a $25,000 challenge to females in the audience who wanted to challenge her for the Knockouts Championship. Most of the audience members failed to defeat her but one challenger named Taylor Wilde was able to defeat Kong after numerous attempts and won $25,000 along with the Knockouts Championship. Kong regained her championship from Wilde making her a 2-time Knockout Champion. She went on to win the Knockouts Tag Team Championship along with Saeed.
Kong under the name of Kharma debuted for WWE on 1 May 2011 at Extreme Rules, attacking Michelle McCool but her time at WWE was cut short as, after a few weeks, she revealed that she was pregnant and thus forced to take a leave of absence from WWE.
She made a shocking return at the 2012 Royal Rumble forcing Michael Cole to eliminate himself and also eliminated Hunico before being eliminated by Dolph Ziggler. She was then granted her release from the company because she was not ready to return in the time they allotted her.
She is very strong as a wrestler and her Awesome Bomb suites perfectly with her powerful personality. If you have not seen her wrestle you should check out her feud with Gail Kim in Impact Wrestling.
The one thing that makes Kong special is her intimidating presence that had been missing from the women's wrestling division. If you show an Awesome Kong match to a person who doesn't take women's wrestling seriously, they will change their opinion. Kong is not just a huge woman who are not good at wrestling and botch a basic punch (you know what I am taking about), she is an amazing wrestler and has a unique moveset that
