What’s the story?
In a recent interview with NewsHub; Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair discussed the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble and who she would like to see win the match.
In case you didn’t know…
On last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced by Stephanie McMahon that WWE will be hosting the first ever 30 women over the top rope Royal Rumble match, next year during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
So far only two female stars have announced their entry in the Royal Rumble match, first being the former Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi and the second one being Asuka, who announced her entry into the match on this week’s episode of Raw.
The heart of the matter
While speaking with NewsHub, Charlotte Flair revealed that she would like to see her best friend Becky Lynch win the first ever female Royal Rumble match and also said that it would be a great moment to witness “The Lass Kicker” make history by winning the Rumble match next year.
Additionally, Flair claimed that a match between her and Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship will truly be historic, however, a title match between Flair and Lynch at New Orleans next year will also go down as another great moment in this current women’s revolution in the WWE. The former Raw Women’s Champion ended her statement saying that she hopes to defend her championship against the winner of the women’s Royal Rumble.
“With the announcement of the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, I feel the women’s revolution is complete.”- Charlotte Flair stated.
What’s next?
Come January 28th, 2018, history will be made by the women of WWE once again when the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match takes place in the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia.
Author’s Take
Becky Lynch winning the women’s Royal Rumble and facing off against Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 34 is definitely bound to be a great storyline. WWE currently has the opportunity to work with the idea that has been pitched by Charlotte and the creative team can build a potential feud between the two best friends, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
