What's the story?
During the latest edition of the Taz Show, former ECW legend Taz gave his thoughts on Shinsuke Nakamura's current main-roster run and criticised WWE's creative team for poorly booking the former NXT Champion in recent months.
In case you didn't know...
Shinsuke Nakamura made his main roster debut earlier this year, on the day after Wrestlemania 33 as "The Artist" showed up on the blue brand of WWE, that is Smackdown Live.
Following his main roster call up, Nakamura went on to feud against the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin. However, the former NXT Champion also got two high profile victories to his name, first against John Cena on an episode of Smackdown and also followed it up with a win against Randy Orton.
Nakamura then suffered two huge losses at the hands of Jinder Mahal as he failed to capture the WWE Championship on two different occasions, first at Summerslam and then at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
The heart of the matter
According to Taz; Shinsuke Nakamura had a pretty solid start to his main roster career when he first made his debut, however, the former ECW World Heavyweight Champion has not been a fan of how Nakamura has been booked recently on the main roster.
Taz pointed out that Nakamura's recent loss to Kevin Owens on Smackdown Live, this past Tuesday did not help "The Artist" heading into the Clash of the Champions PPV, later this month. And Nakamura teaming up on PPVs on a regular basis has also been harming his momentum, says Taz.
However, the 50-year-old then stated that there is no shame in losing to Kevin Owens or teaming up with Randy Orton but losing on TV, on a regular basis can certainly hurt a particular superstar's momentum.
What's next?
As for Nakamura, his next goal is to team up with Randy Orton at this year's Clash of the Champions PPV where he and "The Viper" will have the chance of putting an end to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn's WWE career.
On the other hand, however, many reports have suggested that Nakamura might be the favorite to win the 2018 Royal Rumble and then challenge for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 34.
Author's Take
I agree with Taz on this one and believe that Nakamura has indeed been booked very poorly on the main roster. "The King of Strong Style" is someone who should be in the main event picture, rather than team up in tag matches every week.
