The Rugby World Cup 2019 concluded with South Africa taking the trophy home for the third time after beating England 32-12 in the final. Japan hosted this edition of the World Cup and the Cherry Blossoms had an impressive run to the quarter-finals. The Springboks pulled off a victory by a margin of 20 points, which is the biggest since Australia beat France 35-12 back in 1999. South Africa's three titles have come between 12 year gaps. The Boks first won in 1995 and then in 2007.

Handre Pollard was the star of the evening as he put 22 points on the board and ended up being the top points scorer in the tournament with 69 points. England's Owen Farrell came in second with 58 points.

Josh Adams finished the tournament as the top try scorer despite Wales' elimination at the hands of South Africa in the semi-finals and the loss to New Zealand in the Bronze final. He pocketed seven tries throughout the tournament. Springboks' Makazole Mapimpi follows him with six tries.
