Bangalore is all set to be painted pink as this year's SBI Pinkathon is set to be held on Sunday and here are 5 reasons why you shouldn't miss the event for the world!
#1 Bigger and better!
This is the third leg of Pinkathon and the event is going be to be across seven different cities this year, Bangalore being one of the major venues. Last time, the event saw a whopping 5000 women coming out to participate in the run.
This time, organizers are predicting a staggering 10,000 women to turn up for Pinkathon. It is surely bigger than ever.
#2 Celebration, not simply support!
Milind Soman, founder of Pinkathon and an acclaimed actor and model has time and again emphasized on the fact that Pinkathon is not simply an event to support as cause, but a celebration of women's health. The event sees a significant number of cancer survivors participating in it in an attempt to prove to those at risk of or suffering from cancer that there is life after the disease too. Moreover, women from all walks of life run at the event to promote a healthy lifestyle as exercise can prevent cancer as well as several other ailments.
#3 Tangible aid to cancer support groups
The registration fee of the event is an affordable Rs. 600 per head and unlike several other events which have vague skeletons of providing support to a cause, a part of the proceeds from Pinkathon directly go to Women's Cancer Aid. Now that's a good way to extend help.
#4 For one and all
While a full marathon is around 42 kms and a half marathon is around 21 kms, the main event of Pinkathon is a 10 km run which is easily accessible to not only athletes, but also fitness and running enthusiasts. For other amateurs and beginners, there is a 5 km run and a 3 km Pink Ribbon Walk too. From 10-year old girls to 70-year-old women, Pinkathon sees participants from varying age groups and walks of life.
#5 Star power
With founder Milind Soman bringing the star quotient high up as it is, there are several other guests from tinsel town at Pinkathons to satiate your fangirl wants. Celebrities associated with earlier editions of the event include Bipasha Basu, Karisma Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Kunal Kapoor and Rahul Bose. Along with a fun and healthy experience, the event ensures a sneak peek into the glamour world.
These are just some of the many reasons to wake up early this Sunday for the SBI Pinkathon, apart from exciting prizes, festive atmosphere and smooth organization with facilities that include timing chips.
