London, March 31 (IANS)
London Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah is set to start the new Diamond League season in Doha on May 15.
It will be the first time for the 32-year-old British distance runner to compete in the capital city of Qatar, reports Xinhua.
Farah won the titles of the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the 2012 London Olympics. One year later, he did a perfect job at the Moscow World Championships, becoming the second athlete to win both – the 5,000 and the 10,000 meters at the worlds.
Farah said, “I've heard so many great things about the track, the crowd and the competition in Doha.
“There are always very strong fields in the distances so this will be a great early season test on the track for me.”
Farah will take part in the 3000-meter in the first leg of the 14-series event.
