For the past few months, there has been much hype regarding the release of LunarGlide 7. Nike finally dropped it in the United States of America during the first week of July. The previous generation of LunarGlide definitely turned some eyes. Will the seventh-generation of LunarGlide live up to the expectations?
Let us throw some light on Nike’s latest offering in LunarGlide series – the LunarGlide 7.
Specifications:
Heel height: 25mm
Toe height: 15mm
Heel-to-toe drop: 10mm
This minimal support shoe ideal for road running boasts six exciting launch colorways. The styling is top-notch. We see the iconic swoosh detailed in black on both sides of the shoe. The tongue boasts reflective Nike branding. Nike even released the NikeiD version of this shoe. You get to customize your shoe with NikeiD (now, this is awesome).
LunarGlide 7 is true to its size. A size 9 shoe weighs 258g.
The upper of LunarGlide 7 boasts a woven Flyknit upper. This seamless upper is free from any overlays and offers incredible fit. An engineered Flymesh upper that is highly breathable covers the whole forefoot area. This has become common in most of the running shoes. Your feet shall always remain cool and dry with this upper design. The support levels of the shoe are supreme. We also see an external heel counter with the LunarGlide 7. This TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane) heel counter provides that added stability required for all your running needs. Apart from this, Dynamic Flywire cables wrap the midfoot area strategically to provide ultralight support along with unmatched lockdown. Get ready to experience stress-free movements with this shoe.
Just like Flyknit Lunar 3, the midsole features Lunarlon cushioning system. This system employs a soft and durable foam core over a supportive foam cladding. This gives you great cushioning. We have no complaints with the cushioning offered by the LunarGlide 7. LunarGlide 7 has dynamic layers of Lunarlon foam and Phylon foam in the medial midsole area. This should offer amazing levels of support and stability. A gender specific, decoupled crash pad at the bottom of the heel reduces the shocks you take during your ride. An internal bootie provides added stability.
The outsole enjoys industry standard BRS 1000 Carbon rubber outsole. This material offers good amount of traction levels on multiple surfaces. The gender specific Flex Grooves marks a return with LunarGlide 7 (Yes, the same seen in Nike Air Max 2015). Your heel-to-toe transition should be great, thanks to these Flex Grooves. That’s not it; we also see a pressure mapped outsole just like Nike’s Flyknit Lunar 3. This technology like the Flex Grooves, helps in better heel-to-toe transition.
With all the top-notch materials and technologies, this shoe is ideal for multiple terrain such as roads, track and gravel. Immense support levels of LunarGlide 7 should make this shoe an ideal match for all the over pronators. Trail running with this shoe is a big NO. At the current price, this shoe is definitely a bargain.
The LunarGlide 7 retails at $125 i.e., around 8,000INR. The NikeiD version retails at $165 i.e., around 11,000INR. Availability in India is TBA.
Bottom-line: The best LunarGlide ever.
