Tirath Kumar and Shamili Singh emerged champions among Elite men and women, respectively, in the inaugural Bengaluru Marathon here Sunday.
Tirath clocked two hours, 25 minutes, 51 seconds while finishing ahead of Krishna Singh (2:26:07) and Neeraj Pal Singh (2:27:04). Tirath won a purse of Rs.2 lakh.
Shamili (3:16:18) held off Sudha Vig (3:17:20) and Jyothi Shankar (3:29:09) and also went home richer by Rs.2 lakh.
In the half-marathon for men, Dasari Vasu (1:11:57) took the honours while Nirmal Kumar (1:12:10) and B.C. Tilak (1:12:18) finished second and third, respectively.
In the women's half-marathon, Sudha Singh (1:18:23) topped the charts with L. Surya (1:19:12) and Kavita Raut (1:20:26) completing the podium.
