India’s Ayonika Paul won the bronze medal in the final of the Women’s 10m Air Rifle of the Asian Airgun Championships in New Delhi on Monday. The 23-year-old finished the final with a tally of 185.0 which put her in third place.
Paul fired a 10.9 on two separate occasions during the course of the final but a final shot of 9.0 crashed her hopes of winning either a gold or a silver and she had to eventually settle for a bronze.

Much was exected out of Apurvi Chandela, but it proved to a massive disappointment for the 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medalist who was the first one to get eliminated out of the final after firing a total tally of 81.3.
Pooja Ghatkar finished in 5th place with a score of 143.3. Paul’s bronze is India’s second medal at the competition after Abhinav Bindra clinched the gold in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle final on Sunday.

Xiang Wei Jasmine Ser of Singapore clinched the gold with a score of 208.1 while Elaheh Ahmadi of Iran with a score of 206.6 won the silver medal.
