It was an one-two finish for India as Heena Sidhu and Shweta Singh clinched the gold and silver medal respectively in the final of the Women’s 10m Air Pistol final at the Asian Airgun Championships in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Sidhu fired a tally of 197.8 in the final and for a large part of the final, exchanged leads with Singh, who eventually finished with a score of 197.0. The third Indian in the fray Yasashwini Deswal finished in 4th place with a tally of 155.3. The bronze medal went to Seon A Kim of South Korea.
The medals from Sidhu and Singh takes India’s tall;y to six and they have now won a medal in each of the disciplines of the Championships. It was Abhinav Bindra who got the medal tally off the mark on Day 1, winning the gold in the 10m Air Rifle event.
Ayonika Paul won the bronze in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle event, winning the bronze and on Tuesday, India won two medals in the Men's 10m Air Pistol event as Gurpreet Singh and Jitu Rai clinched the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
The Indian Women’s Pistol team consisting of Heena Sidhu, Yashaswini Deswal and Shweta Singh also won the gold in the team event.
