Abhinav Bindra wins third gold medal at Inter Shoot Tri series Shooting Championship

Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra became the first man to win three gold medals in the Inter Shoot Tri Series shooting event being held at Hague, Netherlands after he won the gold medal in the Air Pistol event on Saturday.

Bindra shot 209.3 in the finals and finished ahead of the second-placed shooter by 2.4 points. Even current Olympic Champion Alin George Moldoveanu had no answer to Bindra’s blitzkrieg.

Bindra had also topped the qualifiers on Friday in the second competition and had a final score of 627.7 which was 6.6 points better than the second placed Moldoveanu.

Bindra was in a spot of bother in the first competition on Thursday and qualified in the eighth place with a score of 613.3. However, he made up for it in the end to beat the highest qualifier Peter Hellenbrand of Netherlands with impressive last two shots of 10.6 and 10.8,in the process clinching the gold.

Overall, it has been a terrific tournament for India’s Olympic gold medallist, who continues to win laurels for his country.
