A day after Abhinav Bindra bagged the gold, India Saturday won one silver and two bronze medals in the team events at the Asian Shooting Championships in Doha.
According to information received here, the silver was won by the air rifle women’s team while men’s double trap team and the junior women’s sports pistol team won the bronze.
None of the Indian shooters, however, failed to bag Olympic quotas in the tournament, which is the last qualifying event for the 2012 London Olympics.
The women’s air rifle team, comprising former world No.1 Anjali Bhagwat, Ayonika Paul and Mampi Das won the silver medal with a total score of 1185 out of 1200. China won the gold with 1187 while the bronze went to Iran with 1183 points.
Anjali and Ayonika came close to qualifying for the final round but lost in a tie-shoot to finish ninth and 10th, respectively. The two Indians were among the seven who were tied at 396 out of 400 after the qualifying round. Mampi shot 395 to finish 12th.
In double trap, the trio of Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (135), Mohammed Asab (135) and Ronjan Sodhi (134) won the team bronze. Rathore, Asab and Sodhi finished eighth, ninth and 14th, respectively.
In junior women’s sports pistol event, Surabhi Pathak (565), Aanchal Rana (548) and Oshin Tawani (533) won the team bronze. The gold and silver medals were won by China and Thailand, respectively. Surabhi finished seventh in the final round with a score of 565 in the qualifying and 147.7 in the final.
