India has been awarded the hosting rights for the ISSF Junior World Cup to be played in 2025. The announcement was made on Sunday (October 13) by the International Shooting Sport Federation during the ISSF Shooting World Cup Final 2024 in Delhi.
The president of the federation, Luciano Rossi, stated that the world body will continue to support India. He offered his full backing to the country in case it is interested in hosting more major tournaments in the future.
"I would like to congratulate India for their stellar performance at the recently concluded Junior World Championship in Peru. I would also like to inform that we at ISSF will support India's application to host the Junior World Cup in 2025 and other future international events as and when we are approached by NRAI," said Rossi (Via PTI).
By hosting the Shooting World Cup Final 2024, India has been able to put forward a testament of their hosting potential. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Kalikesh Singh Deo, expressed pride over the same.
"Hosting events like the ISSF World Cup Final demonstrates India’s ability to elevate shooting sport globally. We are committed to bringing world events on a regular basis, not only to help boost the confidence of the Indian team, but also help upcoming generations be inspired by watching their favourite stars in live action in front of them,” Kalikesh said.
Top shooters from around the world arrive in India for the ISSF Shooting World Cup Final 2024
India is hosting some of the most talented shooters from around the world at the Shooting World Cup Final 2024. The event is to be held at the Karni Singh Ranges in New Delhi from October 13 to 17. The competition will feature all 12 Olympic events across the rifle, pistol, and shotgun categories.
The shooting contingents of various participating nations arrived in Delhi on October 13. The event will see a 23-member Indian contingent compete for glory.
The likes of Arjun Babuta, Arjun Singh Cheema and Rhythm Sangwan will be represnting India. However, India would miss the services of star Olympians Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh and Swapnil Kusale.
