India are placed atop the ISSF Junior World Championship 2024 medal tally with three medals on the opening day of the competition in Lima, Peru. They bagged two gold medals and one bronze medal on Day 1.
Romania and Chinese Taipei jointly hold the second position with a couple of medals each. Both nations won one gold and one silver on Day 1 of the ISSF Junior World Championship 2024.
Azerbaijan and Slovakia are placed fourth in the medal tally with one silver medal apiece. Meanwhile, Hungary, Italy, and Ukraine find themselves in the sixth position with one bronze medal each.
A total of 12 medals (four gold, four silver, and four bronze medals) were won by eight nations on the first day of the ISSF Junior World Championship 2024 in Peru.
India win two gold medals in team events; Umesh misses out on crucial points for arriving late
India clinched their two gold medals in the team events on Day 1 at the ISSF Junior World Championship 2024 in Lima, Peru. The men's 10m air pistol team and women's 10m air pistol team brought glory to the country on Sunday.
The men's team, consisting of Umesh Choudhary, Pradhyumn Singh, and Mukesh Nelavalli won the gold medal with 1726 points. Romania and Italy won the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the men's 10m air pistol team event.
The trio of Kanishka Dagar, Lakshita, and Anjali Chaudhary bagged 1708 points to top the table in the women's 10m air postil team event. Azerbaijan (1707 points) and Ukraine (1704 points) were the next two teams in the table.
Kanishka Dagar finished third in the women's individual air pistol with 217.6 points to secure a bronze medal. Meanwhile, Umesh Choudhary missed out on a potential gold medal in the men's individual air pistol event as he was docked two points for arriving late for the medal event.
