American shooter and Olympian Vincent Charles Hancock was born in Port Charlotte, Florida, on March 19, 1989. He broke the Olympic record in the men's skeet discipline at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the London Summer Olympics of 2012 and the Tokyo Summer Olympics of 2020, he accomplished the same accomplishment twice. He is the only Olympian with two skeet shooting titles.

At the age of sixteen, Hancock earned his first World Championship title in the men's skeet division in 2005. Additionally, he was awarded the prestigious Shooter of the Year title by the International Shooting Sports Federation. In the 2009 World Championships in Maribor, he took home the gold medal in skeet.

Hancock then enrolled at Troy University in Troy, Alabama, from which, he earned a business management degree in 2014. He joined the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit as a sergeant after receiving his degree, and in 2015, became just the third athlete to win three men's skeet world championships. All in all, Vincent Hancock has won four World Championships gold medals, a silver and a bronze.

Hancock qualified for the Olympic team and competed for the United States in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 after winning the gold medal at the World Championships in 2015. However, he only managed a 15th-place finish in the Brazilian capital.

He made it to the 2020 Summer Olympics in the United States, where he defeated Jesper Hansen of Denmark and Abdullah Alrashidi of Kuwait to win his third Olympic gold medal. Hancock, who has won 29 medals from international tournaments, including the Olympics, is among the most accomplished shooters in the sport's history.

Craig Hancock, Vincent's father, was a major contributor to the sport he loved. In addition to being a competitive shooter, he coached the local 4-H shooting sports team. He imparted to him the virtues of confidence, fortitude, and love for their common activity, in addition to teaching him how to shoot. Vincent, who went on to become one of the most decorated shooters in the history of the sport, carried on his father's skill and enthusiasm.

Hancock was very open in an interview about how he came to receive so many honors. The Olympian disclosed that he had shot a pigeon as a child and taken it home to impress his parents. He claimed to be able to see birds and to be able to hunt like his father. This was the first time his father had taught him the truth about guns. The Olympian continued by saying that he learned it was incorrect from his parents. They taught him gun safety, and his father taught him how to respect a gun. After adopting the lessons from his parents, Hancock's life took on an uncontrollable quality.

Sadly, Craig Hancock passed away quietly in the company of his loved ones on November 11, 2023.
