The biggest rivalry of the decade?Which is the biggest news circulating among the WWE circles right now? I don't think you will disagree with me when I tell you if that was about the match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker at 'Hell in a Cell'.Termed as the decider, this match is expected to end the 18 month-long rivalry between these two superstars. As a WWE fan, you would love to watch these two men fight inside the cell but more than that you pray that this match should not end the way it did at SummerSlam last month. Talking about 'Hell in a Cell', both Taker and Lesnar were a part of a few cell matches individually. As part of this slideshow, let us have a look at 3 memorable matches in which either of these two was a part of-
#3 Undertaker vs. Rikishi
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
A 'Hell in a Cell' match is something that takes the superstars to the limit and you can call it career-defining at times. How about someone making 12 appearances inside the cell? You are damn right! I'm talking about ‘The Phenom’.
In 2000, at the Armageddon PPV, Kurt Angle defended his WWF title against The Rock, Triple H, Undertaker, Rikishi and Stone Cold in an Armageddon 'Hell in a Cell' match. A few minutes away from the start of the match, the action started above the cell.
Undertaker pushed Rikishi from the cell into a truck filled with pine chips. The 425 pounder went down and it was a sight to behold as everyone in the arena was stunned. Rikishi was motionless for a few minutes and the other superstars couldn't believe that including the stars fighting it out in the ring, who were seen looking with waited breath as to how the mega spot would go down.
In the end, Angle retained his title, but that fall obviously was a big takeaway from the match compared to the latter.
#2 Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker
Am I kidding you? Not really. For those of you who are not aware of this, let me tell you something interesting here.
Brock Lesnar and Undertaker have faced each other inside the steel structure in the year 2002 at the 'No Mercy' PPV. Lesnar defended his WWE Championship against Undertaker, but it was Lesnar who emerged victorious in that match. The most interesting part of this story is that this was the only 'Hell in a Cell' match Brock Lesnar has been a part of in his entire WWE career.
Come 2015 and we have Lesnar facing the same opponent again. It makes sense when you look back at it.
In 2002, WWE was in the 'Ruthless Aggression' era. This line itself explains how brutal this match had been. The notable highlights from this match were Lesnar attacking the injured arm of the Phenom, Undertaker profusely bleeding after an attack with the steel stairs and Heyman's distraction.
During the closing moments of the match, Lesnar countered a Tombstone from Taker and delivered an F5 for the victory. Will this match exceed the quality of their previous encounter in the steel structure is to be seen and come 25th October, it would mark the end of one great rivalry.
#1 Mankind vs. Undertaker
Talk about 'Hell in a Cell' and you can't stop recalling his name - Mick Foley! Foley's run in WWE can be visualized in two halves; pre-cell and post-cell. The match we are talking about took place at 'King of the Ring' in 1998.
Foley took two serious bumps in the match - once when he fell from the top of the cell onto the Spanish announce table and the other was when he went through the cell owing to a Choke Slam from The Undertaker.
Like it or not, accept it or not, this is one of the most brutal WWE encounters then...now...and may be forever. Also, this match established the fact that Foley was a gem of a man when it comes to loyalty as he endured a brutal beating on the PPV.
