After a disastrous stint with Adidas, Kobe signed with Nike in 2004. But he did not officially get his Nike signature up until 2006 when Nike Air Zoom Kobe 1 dropped. Since then, the Zoom kept getting better and the modern low top Kobe style was introduced with Nike Zoom Kobe 4 in 2009.
During 2014, Kobe 9 was released which was aesthetically attractive but did not feel comfortable as the low tops. So the low tops returned with Kobe 10. Like the basketball sneaker experts say, “You will never go wrong with Kobes “.
#2 Nike Lebron
Lebron James started his pro career wearing Nike Zoom Generation in 2003 and got his signature Nike Zoom Lebron 2 in 2004. After Lebron 6 , he switched to Nike Air Max for Lebon 7 in 2008. Later he settled down to a model similar to Lebron 5 with the new Lebron 11 but more flashy and comfortable. The new Lebron 12 is perfect for any forward/ wing players trying to grind in the basketball court. They look updated, classy and above all the King wears them.
#3 Adidas D Rose
Being the exciting player Derrick Rose was, he had his name on his first signature adiZero Rose 1. It was a very comfortable and classic Adidas shoe and had good ankle support system. Adidas had a good come back with D. Rose collections. Adidas worked with Rose on D Rose 3 which turned out to be remarkable and had fresh looks to it.
The latest D Rose 5 Boost is designed for comfort and has a classic look to it. Will it help Rose to get to where he once was – the top of the chain? That depends on how D. Rose fares on court. Nevertheless, he has an impressive collection and Adidas finally figured out the basketball shoe business.
#4 Under Armour Curry
They are the latest sensation and if you are lucky you would be able to find Curry 1 signature shoes from last season. They’re all sold out at Under Armour and the new Curry 2 models have started to release in one-week intervals from now to end of December. The overall feedback is awesome for Curry shoes which, unlike Kobes or Lebrons does not compromise comfort and fit for style. And as an added bonus, Curry shoes present a new look and style which leaves the basketball fanatics wanting more.
#5 Air Jordans
The shoes that revolutionized basketball - the reason why the shoes are made the way they are today. Michael Jordan took flight in his famous basketball shoes which Nike agreed to make and Adidas turned down. And as they say, the rest is history; it made and makes MJ more money than his NBA salary. Air Jordans are iconic, comfortable and they define style.
A recent deal offered by MJ was that if you buy his 15 million dollar mansion, you would get a pair of all signature Air Jordans ever made in your size. Air Jordans made paying $200 for basketball shoes seem reasonable and fair.
Did you know – The first Air Jordan in black and red was banned by NBA. But Jordan wore them every game and paid the fines until NBA eventually lifted the ban
