5 Extreme Mick Foley Moments in WWE

Every wrestler is entitled to put his body on the line whenever one steps into the ring, but sometimes certain wrestlers push the envelope and give the fans an extreme moment to cherish in their memories. And there won't be any other wrestler in the history of WWE who gave more such moments to the fans than Mick Foley. Foley often went to limits that others would rarely to go end got himself a deserving tag of being the hardcore legend. The bumps he took down the road eventually cut short his career and he left a big void in the roster which no one could replace. As a token of appreciation here is a look at some of the most extreme moments from the career of Mick Foley.

#6 Honorable Mention: Suffering a C4 blast

The reason why this didn’t make it into the list was that this match happened in IWA which were known for some gruelling encounters featuring Mick Foley, but it surely deserves a mention.

And one among that was the death match that he had with Terry Funk. There were ropes in the match and were replaced with barbwires, and to make it more interesting they even added C4 explosives in between.

Funk and Foley had a great match and both of them took some bumps that no one ever replicated after that.

#5 Pedigree on Thumbtacks Royal Rumble 2000

Thumbtacks always had a special place between the WWE fans and whenever they came out they were bound to say “oh my god”.

And when it came in between a Mick Foley match, things went more extreme. Foley was facing off against Triple H in Royal Rumble of 2000 and Foley decided to get the thumbtacks into the mix as well.

But he ended up in the receiving end of things which was uncalled for. To make matters worse, Foley landed right on his face and stomach which was very unorthodox.

The wrestler usually lands with their back into the thumbtacks but Foley falling right on his face was something new and painful.

#4 Getting speared through the Flaming table- WrestleMania 22, 2006

In 2006, Mick Foley was going through a very bad physical condition and was even suffering from memory loss due to his previous adventures.

He went public and admitted that he would be just 20 minutes away from his home and still wonder what he was doing.

But this didn’t stop Foley from having an epic moment in WrestleMania. He faced off against Edge in in a hardcore match in which Foley got speared through a flaming table.

It was one of the best hardcore moments that ever happened in WrestleMania. Joey Styles, who saw every death match in ECW even shouted “OMG” seeing Foley go through the table like that because Foley was in such bad shape.

#3 10 Chair Shots From The Rock- Royal Rumble 1999

Rock and Foley had a high profile feud in 1999 which spanned through a series of matches. But one match that stood out was the one that happened at Royal Rumble.

The match was billed as an “I Quit” match and the fans were sure that they will see an epic since Foley wasn’t someone who’d quit. The match started off with some typical moves and bump but once Rock took out a steel chair and tied Foley’s hand's things turned upside down.

Foley took 10 straight chair shots to his head without even protecting it with his hand. Foley later revealed that he and the Rock planned on doing that before the match. The sad part from all this was Foley’s wife and children were in the crowd and were seeing their father getting beaten up like nothing.

The match eventually ended when a recorded sound of Foley saying I Quit was played to aim Rock win which meant that Foley never quit.

#2 Thrown off the Cell- King of the Ring: 1998

Arguably the most extreme moment in WWE history, Foley being thrown off the Hell in a Cell was something which the fans which the fans will never forget due to the sheer amount of shock element that it had.

The match between Foley and Taker had only started at when Foley climbed on top of the Cell and challenged Taker to come up as well. Taker accepted the challenge and both men soon started brawling on top of the cell.

They struggled to keep their footing on the wired mesh and when the fans least expected, Taker threw Foley to the table which was 15 feet below them.

While most of the wrestler would’ve ended the match there, Foley came back with a twisted grin in his face to give the fans another moment which defined him.

#1 Chokeslam off the top of the cell King of the Ring 1998

The reason why this tops the rank list and beats everything else on the list is that this move wasn’t actually planned.

Foley getting thrown off the cell and coming back was all part of the script and he was supposed to get choke slammed on top of the cell. But a panel of the cell broke and Foley plummeted into the ring.

He was knocked out cold for three minutes and even the people near the ring including Taker thought that Foley was dead. But being the legend he is, Foley came out with another grin and a tooth pierced through his nose to complete the match in style.

There won’t be many other names in the business who gave so much to pop the crowd and Foley stands out as the hardcore legend that can’t be replaced.
