Kabaddi is a team sport and even the slightest drop in understanding could open a window for the opponent to destroy you. Momentum is key in every sport, but more so here as the nature of the game doesn’t give you a chance to come back. While the most cohesive units rule the roost in the game, there are times when individuals just blow teams away with their battling performances and literally turn the game on its head. The players in question here gave their all for the team’s cause, putting their bodies on the line to protect the team, very similar to how Castrol Activ ActiBond molecules provide continuous protection by clinging on to the engine, even when it is off, preventing wear and tear and protecting from rust.Since the launch of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi, there have been a few players who have showed extreme endurance and fight to carry their team to success. Here are five instances when this happened.
#1 Kashiling Adake vs Telugu Titans 24 Raid Points
Playing on home turf at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi, Dabang Delhi were desperately in need of a win in the second season of Pro Kabaddi League. As desperate times calls for desperate measures, the team found a hero in twenty-two-year old Kashiling Adake, who single-handedly carried Dabang Delhi against the Telugu Titans.
The man from Satara scored twenty-four raid points and was unlucky not to have got a touch point in his last raid that was a do-or die one for Dabang Delhi. But his efforts were enough to earn Dabang Delhi a point against the rampant Telgu Titans side who had brushed aside most teams in the league
#2 Rajesh Narwal vs Dabang Delhi 19 Points
In yet another season two game in New Delhi, the Jaipur Pink Panthers punished hosts Dabang Delhi and drubbed them 51-21. Despite star raider Kashiling Adake claiming nine raid points in that game, the team from Delhi had no answer to Rajesh Narwal, who managed to score nineteen points in the game to single-handedly lead the Pink Panthers’ assault.
With 15 raid points and four tackle points, Rajesh Narwal kept the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the hunt for the semi-finals.
#3 Wazir Singh vs Telugu Titans 12 Points
Wazir Singh’s performance against the Telugu Titans in Hyderabad wasn’t the biggest in terms of points, but certainly one of the most herculean efforts in the history of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi.
Carrying an injury, Wazir Singh was charged with the responsibility of leading an ailing Puneri Paltan outfit whose semi-final hopes were fading by the day. However, Wazir Singh was a man on a mission and his twelve points against an in-form Telugu Titans side, helped his young and unexperienced Puneri Paltan side earn a draw.
Singh’s performance on that day went a long way in redefining the phrase, one-man army.
#4 Manjeet Chhillar vs U Mumba 11 Points
Manjeet Chhillar was the stand-out performer for the Bengaluru Bulls in season two of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi season two and deservedly won the Most Valuable Player award that season.
The performance that helped him clinch that award though came in a losing cause in the final that season against U Mumba. When the other big players for the Bulls failed to turn up on the day, Manjeet waged a lone battle against the supremely talented U Mumba side and almost took the Bulls to glory. His eleven points was the highest individual tally in the final.
#5 Pardeep Narwal vs Telugu Titans 24 Raid Points
The latest addition to this list is the breath-taking performance of Patna Pirates’ nineteen-year-old raiding sensation. Pardeep Narwal. Against a Telugu Titans side that were fighting for their lives in the third season of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi, Narwal made life very uncomfortable for the last season’s third placed team.
The Titans looked to be running away with it with less than five minutes on the clock, but Pardeep Narwal produced two super raids in the dying minutes to get his side back in the contest.
The Titans eventually won the contest, but Pardeep’s performance took the cake. He also became the first player to cross the hundred-point mark in terms of the raid points in the season.
