5 lessons learnt from Friday Night Smackdown - August 8th 2014

Well, you might have already seen the results or not but this week on Smackdown, few things were made clear.SummerSlam happens on August 17th. That means this weeks raw is the go-home show for one of the biggest PPVs in the WWE. Here are the five lessons or hints that Smackdown gave for the coming Raw episode.

#5 Cena will Save Hogan

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Okay so it’s Hulk Hogan’s Birthday celebration on Raw this Monday. And there are already rumours that Brock Lesnar is set to face off against the 60-going-on-61 year old. So, how about John Cena coming out to make the save for Hogan and be the cherry on the cake. I mean, the night promises to be spectacular.

I am actually predicting, that’ll be the final face off between Cena and Lesnar before their highly anticipated match in the main event of Summerslam. And it seems John Cena will get the upperhand on Monday. And this might mean, Lesnar might, just might get the uppwerhand on August 17th.

#4 An apt Concoction

This wasn’t the first time that these two faced off and this wasn’t the first time that they had an awesome match. Both of them are known to be great sellers and these two facing each other is just so apt. Both of them make the other look good. Rollins got a clean victory which mean Ziggler lost 1-2-3. But that is not new for Ziggler and his popularity just does not dies down.It has hence been proved that this combination more or less always works.

#3 Rusev Vs Swagger is a Big Deal

WWE’s really trying to have a lot of momentum behind this feud. Because in just two episodes of Smackdown Creative made their storyline look more important than a superstar or stable’s supposed push. Jack Swagger beat former teammate Cesaro easily last week and that too because Cesaro tapped out. This week, the probable stable of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were nowhere to be found when Big E was on the receiving end of the Rusev Crush.

#2 The Biggest Tag Team

Mark Henry and Big Show are two veterans who like Kane get one chance in the main event picture and then Creative has nothing for them. This is the second time in the past one year that they’ve teamed together and it seems their team really works. They seemed set to have a match as a team at Wrestlemania until Henry’s injury washed out that possibility. They are back together now and it seems the tag team picture just got bigger and better.

P.S. Also according to Michael Cole, they are the World’s “Hungriest Team”.

#1 Ambrose Explains

I have never been a fan of Lumberjack matches but seeing that WWE chose to have one of the most anticipated matches with that stipulation made me think of the possibilities it can produce. But on Smackdown , Dean Ambrose explained quite succinctly why the stipulation works for both Rollins and Ambrose. Going by their brotherhood days, they’ve made quite a few enemies backstage and that makes the disadvantages of a heel Rollins at par with that of the 28 year old from Cincinnati.

For now, this stipulation really does seem reasonable.
