What is the best part about being a wrestling fan? Cenation members out there will say it is John Cena, Internet Wrestling fans out there will say it is ‘wrestling’ but above all, what makes us fall in love with professional wrestling is the surreal moments that it gives us.The Undertaker’s streak ending at WrestleMania and Sting’s debut at Survivor Series belong to that list. And the best part is: the list never ends. While all those moments from the past still gives us goosebumps, it is the anticipation about the future that makes us more exciting. So here is a look at some of those moments which have the potential to make our heart skip a beat.
#6 Honorable Mention: One more match from Steve Austin
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Attitude Era is long gone, but the brand name of Stone Cold Steve Austin is still big enough to pack arenas. If he could wrestle one more match in the WWE, it will be a dream scenario for everyone. While his physique will be holding him back from the same, we never know.
#5 Bad Guy Cena
Let’s start off with the most obvious wish that WWE fans out there has. John Cena has become stale over the past decade for doing the same things over and over. There hasn’t been any change in his gimmick or wrestling apart from the color of his t-shirts during that period.
The reason for WWE not turning Cena is many. First of all, his merchandize money is a big income source for Vince and if Cena turns heel, the numbers are going to come crashing down.
At the same time, Cena is an ideal role model for all the children out there. Ninety percent of his fans are children and with the PG product in place, Vince would not risk making those children cry. It is some sort of a paradox a Cena heel turn will be ground breaking.
#4 Ted Turner buys TNA
If you are saying that you don’t know Ted Turner, then you should really check your wrestling knowledge. He was the man responsible for the entire Monday Night Wars between WCW and WWE. Turner wanted to change the wrestling business after buying WCW and did just that by pouring out money into the promotion.
Bad management and locker room politics proved to be the death blows for WCW but no one argued against the money power of Turner.
His is currently worth twice as much as Vince McMahon so if he decides to enter the wrestling business once again, we will have another full-fledged war in our hands. It is a long shot, but Turner buying TNA will go down in history as another turning point.
#3 Paul Heyman gets full creative control of WWE
Vince McMahon’s retirement is one of those moments which belong to this list but the reason for its exclusion is the predictability. We all know that Vince is going to retire at one point or the other but what we don’t know is about his successor.
Triple H has been proving his worth by running NXT successfully and is the favourite to step in when Vince steps down. The other name in the mix is Shane McMahon. But what if Paul Heyman gets the pick?
The company should be financially with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and creatively with Heyman. We all know how brilliant Heyman is when it comes to running a wrestling promotion and he would without any doubt be a better booker than Triple H.
#2 Shawn Michaels forgets his retirement
A professional wrestler’s decision to retire from the in-ring competition is not at all stable. Names like Ric Flair, Terry Funk and Hulk Hogan has had numerous retirement speeches in their career, but all of them returned to the squared ring.
It is good to see such moments happen in the business and one superstar that we would love to see in the situation is Shawn Michaels. Michaels put his career on the line against Undertaker at WrestleMania and kept his word ever since.
He does make sporadic appearances in the WWE but what we really want from him is some quality matches. Michaels still looks fit and with possible opponents like Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and many more, it will be impossible for WWE to screw up this return.
#1 CM Punk returns to WWE
Some might frown when they see CM Punk top the list but think about it. Back in 1997 when Bret Hart walked out of the company after Montreal Screwjob, WWE had a golden opportunity to pull off the biggest return in history.
That did not happen and when Bret finally made his return, he was well past his prime and in no shape to wrestle.
It could be an entirely different story with CM Punk. He will start off his UFC career this year but will have enough heart left in him to make a comeback.
If Punk does return, it will be the biggest return of the decade and WWE will get a big boost in their ticket sales with Punk’s face on the poster.
Meanwhile, who can forget this pipebomb from CM Punk:
