5 most intimidating tag teams in WWE history

Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman are an imposing pair of performers from the Wyatt Family.In the last couple years, the WWE creative team has teased that members of the Wyatt family could contend for the tag team titles.And while they’ve certainly been intimidating in their forays into the division, no combination of the four-man stable has picked up the titles or been a long-term staple in that competition.Other imposing teams have done that, though. So here are the top five most intimidating teams in WWE history, all of whom made an impact on the division and are still remembered to this day.

#5 Acolytes

Bradshaw and Faarooq are two widely accomplished performers.

Whether working independently as the Acolyte Protection Agency or as part of the Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness, the Acolytes were known across the WWE as a hard-hitting team that could handle any competition in the ring and entertain in any storyline.

Together, they won three tag titles, but their mark on the business extends beyond that.

Faarooq, real name Ron Simmons, was the first African-American man to win the World Heavyweight Championship in WCW, and Bradshaw went on to win a variety of singles titles and is a grand slam champion in the WWE.

#4 Wild Samoans

Afa and Sika are part of a rich Samoan heritage in professional wrestling.

Sometimes, things that are unfamiliar to us are the most terrifying, and in the 1970s and 1980s, the Wild Samoans would have fit that bill. The Polynesian duo didn’t speak much but traveled the world collecting a reported 21 tag titles in the process.

Part of the Anoa’i dynasty that has since brought us superstars like The Rock, Rikishi, The Usos and Roman Reigns, Afa and Sika are remembered to this day as one of the top tag-exclusive teams in the history of the sport and were named to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.

#3 Unholy Alliance

Big Show and Undertaker teaming up in their prime was a bad idea for their opponents.

What do you get when you pair up two of the largest athletes in professional wrestling? An intimidating team that would be difficult to stop under any terms, that’s what.

And that’s exactly what WWE did when they put the Big Show and the Undertaker together during the Attitude Era. They only the tag titles only twice, but if the competition came down to the imposing stature and pure physical ability, it would have been nearly impossible for any team to take the belts off of these two.

#2 Legion of Doom

The Legion of Doom, or Road Warriors, won tag titles in a variety of promotions.

Whether wrestling as the Legion of Doom or the Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal were tough to beat. Largely because of their face paint and spiked attire when entering the arena, few teams were as imposing to stand across the ring from than they were.

Both competing in traditional tag matches and in six-man matches with the likes of Dusty Rhodes, the Legion of Doom's tag title count reaches into the double digits in promotions across the wrestling world.

That includes two WWF championship runs and an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

#1 Brothers of Destruction

Undertaker and Kane have been linked in the WWE lore since before Kane’s debut.

Separately, Kane and the Undertaker are intimidating enough. They’ve been a part of some of the most dominant factions and teams in WWE history and picked up a variety of individual titles and even tag titles with other superstars.

Together, the Brothers of Destruction are a force of mythic proportions because of their size and long-lasting storyline connections.

They only won three tag team championships together, but the mention of their names together carried weight on WWE programming as recently as 2015, and that won’t change anytime soon.
