5 Reasons Why Rafa Will come back stronger in 2015!

Monika

We last saw him on the court in Basel when he lost to Borna Coric. It came as a shocker for tennis fans. Rafael Nadal has not had a great year for more reasons than one. He is recovering after undergoing appendicitis operation earlier this month. The World No.3 is all set to make a come back at the Qatar Open in Doha in January next year. We explore 5 reasons why the Spaniard will make a strong come back next year.

#5 He loves competition

The Spaniard has always come back stronger from his injuries and his competitors know that well.Recently, Stan Wawrinka and Roger Federer made comments that Nadal is definitely coming back for the kill.

It's not easy for him. I think that if Rafa will get in form without injuries, he will still be able to perform at the top and lead the sport. Each time he comes back he wins everything. We will see. I really hope I will be able to see him playing free of injuries in 2015 all year long”, said Stan.

And Federer commented, I believe he will still compete to play and win the most important titles and the major tournaments, and to maintain his ranking at the top of the field. When Rafael is playing at his best he is one of the best players we ever had in tennis. It's just extraordinary".

#4 He is the apex predator

He is the man who brought down Roger Federer form the top spot in the world ranking. When he is on the court you cannot ‘not’ watch him play. May it be his streaming fish muscles or his immaculate forehand.

#3 One of the fittest players in the game

There are a very few sportsmen in the world, who can match up to his level of fitness and some say that he has got a third lung. He plays like he is Achilles in the Trojan War. He is coming for the prey. After a long rest, he will come back fitter than ever.

#2 He is a fighter!

When Nadal pulled out of the U.S Open this year, this is what World No.1, Novak Djokovic, had to say: “He slides a lot and spends a lot of energy on each shot. His joints, his body suffers a lot, and it's not easy. But again, he has found a way always to come back, so I expect no less.”

Nadal has always been a fighter and this is not the first time that he is suffering a major injury. He missed the French Open in 2004 due to an ankle injury. He came back to win that title next year. In 2006, he missed the Australian Open due to a foot injury and recovered to win the French Open the same year. He went on to reach his first Wimbledon Final in 2006.

#1 The World No.1 ranking

Nadal slipped to No.3 in the world after missing out on a couple of tournaments late in the year and is more than desperate to win back the top spot! This is what he said at a recent function:

“The recovery is going well. Obviously, I haven't practised yet. But I'm happy with how the operation went and I'm trying to be ready and healthy for 1st December, when I can start practising again.

“I won't be 100 per cent when I start practising again. But the most important thing is that I will be healthy enough to practise every day and I will have one month to try to be 100 per cent and to try and fix my level of tennis. I hope to arrive in Doha being competitive.”
