Ever since Daniel Bryan vacated the WWE World Heavyweight title, the fans has been eager to see who the company would pick next to carry the gold around. And one name thats always been the mix when it comes to title discussions is none other than the champ himself, John Cena. When Cena was included in the Money in the bank match to determine the new champion, the fans without surprise started to buzz about Cena wearing the gold once again. Its the safest path for WWE as well if they give the title to John Cena but there are certain things which suggest that this might not be the best decision if it happens. So here is a look at five reasons why John Cena should not win the title at Money in the bank.
#5 He doesnt need the title to stay on top
John Cena has been the World Champion for 14 times in his career, he has been starring in Hollywood films, he is arguably the most popular star in WWE, he sells the most merchandise for WWE and he is the face of WWE even without the title.
With such an impressive resume to show, Cena is someone who doesn’t need any gold around his waist to show everyone his worth. With or without the title, Cena will be on the top and all his feuds will be considered as main events.
His recent feud with Bray Wyatt is the prime example for this as it was sharing the spotlight with the title feud in the pay-per-views.
Just like that provided that he has a good opponent Cena could pull off some solid storyline without the title being there to raise the stakes is a step in the backward direction.
#4 No surprise element
A superstar like Cesaro or Roman Reigns winning the title on Money in the Bank would actually be a surprise and exciting thing despite the fact that they are labeled as potential winner.
The fans are sure to be caught out with the surprise factor in such situation while it will be the complete opposite when it comes to John Cena going home with the gold. The Cenation leader winning the title is probably the most predictable possibility on the table.
The matching ending in a shock result has always worked for WWE in the past and the creative team wouldn’t be having this luxury with an established star like Cena. The fans will be simply walking out of the arena rather than jumping with excitement about having a new champion.
#3 The fans are going to riot
Remember the signs that were held in ECW One Night stand which said if Cena wins we riot?. Well it’s going to be a similar situation at Boston if Cena becomes the champion ahead of crowd favorites like Roman Reigns, Cesaro and Bray Wyatt.
WWE fans have been extremely vocal whenever they see something that they don’t like. The company suffered this faith in the pay-per-views before WrestleMania and they should avoid giving the fans another chance to get that habit back.
Though Hunter says he does best for business deals, most often he has been criticized for not giving the fans what they want. And at Money in the Bank if he doesn’t give the WWE Universe a new champion, it’s going to be chaos in the internet afterwards.
#2 Restricted future storylines
The Authority has been closely related to the title for a long time now, and anyone who wins the title will automatically be dragged into the angle.
Now if Cena wins, it opens up the possibility of the Authority going up against him since he has already started to get on their nerves. What this means is that Cena will be having another feud with Randy Orton which will be the 1325th time in the WWE history.
Even if the company extends the feud Cena will be also facing Hunter which is not that bad if Hunter manages to pull off a great in ring performance.
The only good feud that could come out from Cena’s reign would be the one against Daniel Bryan and that will also be plagued by the fact that Cena is not a heel.
#1 A New star will be not born
The best thing about the Money in the bank pay-per-view is that the company has the chance to make a breakout star that could stamp his place in the main event scene.
The lights of Cesaro, Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt are superstars who have proven their mettle in the ring and are ready to get the final push to be in the spotlight having the WWE title around their waist would be the ultimate push that could be given.
If Cena wins the title, the company would be simply throwing away this golden opportunity to end up with a young main event talent. There aren’t many other options in near future where the company has such a situation in the hand where they could propel someone into the WWE title picture.
