Seth Rollins has been booked as a weak championWWE hasn’t done a great job of building the Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins and Kane for WWE’s World Heavyweight Title. Hell (no pun intended), it hasn’t done much of a job besides this past Monday of building any momentum heading into the pay-per-view other than Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker, and that has been fractured at best. What WWE has done is created a bit of a conundrum as to how it will handle Seth Rollins and booking the company’s top heel once he has had his date with the Director of Operations. Right now, I think it’s fair to say fans would give anything to see someone else across the ring in the cage when these two superstars meet.Where is Daniel Bryan or CM Punk when you need them?"The Architect" has been booked as a weak champion throughout his reign thus far, constantly losing cleanly on WWE television despite holding the richest prize in the game,” writes Mike Smollins of sportsworldnews.com. “It's one thing to lose to John Cena, the face of the franchise, but it's another to be defeated by Ryback and J&J Security, both which have happened during his run with the gold.”How WWE plans to go forward with two months left in 2015 should help determine how Rollins will be used as the company at some point reaches its zenith with the former Shield member. We all know Roman Reigns is waiting in the wings, as the hierarchy has pushed him on us more in the past two months than we care to take – hoping he gets better on the microphone and makes the fans of John Cena accept him as their new hero.Excuse me while I throw up in my mouth a bit.Rollins, who is not the best in front of a camera is solid in the center of the ring – where he should be. And what happens in four days is still a mystery. Who can step to the plate and challenge Rollins – not only take him to the limit – but beat him and move forward? Here are a few options to consider.
#1 Dean Ambrose
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
WWE’s new guarded face. He is getting better with each passing day, leading off Raw, becoming the perfect complement to both Roman Reigns and Randy Orton. Ambrose deserves better than he gets from the WWE and it shows.
His work is solid and he gets more pops than 90 percent of the locker room from the WWE Universe. What Ambrose has going for him is history with Rollins. The other thing that works in his favor is when the two get in the ring, there is electricity. Move for move, shot for shot – they are poetry on the stage.
They also tell a story few identify with. Professional wrestling is all about storytelling and a dance that is perpetual. When these two are in the ring, it’s like Rick Steamboat and Randy Savage from a time gone by.
#2 Sheamus
There isn’t any place for Sheamus to turn in WWE right now. The only thing holding him near the top of the main event is the Money in the Bank briefcase. Even that is tenuous at best. Sheamus is a big hulk brute with an awful look who would benefit from a character transformation.
Oops, did I say that? Didn’t that already happen when he came back from injury?
What do you do with a stark white redhead with a large frame and a brawling mentality? You take him and have him inject himself in a WWE title picture.
Sheamus may have to wait for someone to beat the hell out of Seth Rollins to stake his claim to the company strap. I say let him go forth and conquer and see if he can downright win it without having to claim it off someone else’s work.
Sheamus needs a new path, and tag teams might be the best solution. I hear Wade Barrett might be looking for someone to stand in a corner with him.
#3 Roman Reigns
This one should and will happen. If Rollins gets out of December with the title, which is not a foregone conclusion anymore, he could be set up for a date with Rollins at the Royal Rumble. He could also turn heel and claim the title once Rollins drops it to another WWE superstar.
The other thought is he beats Sheamus for it after the Great White takes his quick turn with the belt.
Everyone knows this is bound to happen, Vince McMahon is not making this a secret and we the fans need something more than a champion they are trying make out to be a combination of The Rock and John Cena.
Like Ambrose, there is history between the two from their days with The Shield and the fact he was pinned by Rollins at WrestleMania, to begin the current world title reign.
This is not as exciting as Ambrose and Rollins, because they are a bit more aerial and Reigns is a bit robotic. Still the thought of the two of them beating the hell out of each other makes me smile.
#4 Daniel Bryan
At some point, the former WWE World Champion and the former Intercontinental Champion is going to return to the scene of the crime and climb over a few stars who have worked hard over the last year to get to the top of the mountain.
That’s just how it goes.
Bryan has earned the right to reside in the main event picture because he has dropped titles due to injury – not because he lost his spot. Bryan presents a great opportunity to bring back the fan base that has left for various reasons. And he could be the one wrestler who can walk back into a WWE arena, other than John Cena, and pick up right where he left off.
Bryan and Rollins are evenly matched and would put on a show similar to a CM Punk-Bryan reunion.
#5 Kevin Owens
If WWE follows the same path that Vince McMahon, Sr. followed years ago, the Intercontinental Champion is the first in line for a WWE title shot. We all know that is not the case anymore, but it sure sounds good.
I love Owens and his character and wouldn’t mind him being sold as a face in the company. He is much better in the heel role, but here is something to ponder. What if a match between these two leads to a double character turn – much like Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler when they fought over the World Title a few years back?
At some point, will WWE officials have enough chutzpah to make Owens the leader of the band? Will he be able to follow Cena in the path of WWE glory and become the guy we all talk about – face or heel?
This is a match and feud – regardless of title implications, that should happen soon.
#6 Cesaro
This won’t happen, but just like a feud with Brock Lesnar, I certainly want it to happen. Cesaro’s style – the throwback to an era where holds and counter holds meant something. Cesaro is Billy Robinson and Dory Funk, Jr. and that’s no joke. Could he become WWE World Champion? Yes.
Will Vince McMahon let that happen? Not even close.
In this case, the odds are against Cesaro. Rollins is very charismatic, so the interaction between the two would be very weak. The one thing Rollins does well is play the role of an antagonist, better than most on the roster. Cesaro is not rounded enough to work the crowd, make them like or dislike him. His strength and power do his talking which right now is not enough.
At some point, McMahon will give up on him – much like WCW gave up on Steve Austin.
It’s quite depressing to think about it.
