The anticipation levels among the WWE Universe are on an all-time high for Extreme Rules after the latest edition of Raw. All storylines are being well placed for the fans and they are bound to see some excellent in ring action on Sunday. However, the people in the WWE creative team will be steaming their heads to plot the future moves. As every pay-per-view comes across, the writers usually throws in some new storyline addition and direction for the superstars.Extreme Rules is not going to be any different as there are some exciting prospects that might sprout from the pay-per-view. So here is a look at the most interesting five from them.
#5 AJ Lee going after Paige
Will John Cena beat Ric Flair's record? A former WCW Champion thinks so HERE
When AJ Lee lost her title to Paige on the Raw after WrestleMania, what everyone wanted to see was a feud between the two which would’ve given some life to the stale divas division.
However, AJ had to take some time off for personal commitments and Paige was left battling random heel divas in the division to get some experience of the main roster. At Extreme Rules Paige will face off against Tamina but it all looks like the buildup for AJ feud.
AJ is scheduled to appear in live events which might be a hint that she may make an appearance at Extreme Rules after Paige dispatches Tamina.
A post match stare down would start things off well and set up a summer long feud between the two.
#4 Bad News Barretts title reign
Barrett’s Hall of fame segment apparently did wonders for him and he is well on his way to the upper strata.
Winning the Intercontinental title tournament which had names like Cesaro, Swagger, Rob Van Dam and Sheamus was a big deal indeed and he proved that he deserved it. Barrett is a well-polished brawler in the ring and his mic work also has been exceptional.
Big E on the other hand has lost all his momentum as the champion and could benefit if he actually loses it.
Having Barrett on the other side as champion will only help Big E to rise up and show what he got making this a scenario which needs to happen.
#3 Ascensions main roster debut
This week on Raw we saw the Usos successfully defending their title against Rybaxel. Though Ryback and Curtis Axel showed significant improvement as a team, they’ve already faced the Usos a million times making a long term feud stale.
They are also the only heel team left in the division which calls for the promotion of Ascension.
WWE could bring up the guys with some post match creepy attack of the Usos after the possible match that they might have with Rybaxel.
The great gimmick that they had in NXT will help Ascension to make it big in the main roster and embark on a run with the Usos for the title.
#2 Daniel Bryan ending the Authority feud
Daniel Bryan’s battle with the Authority started back at SummerSlam last year and reached its epitome when he won the WWE title at WrestleMania by pulling off double duty in the night.
WWE decided to stretch it a bit further when they make Kane face him at Extreme Rules for the title. With the involvement of Stephanie playing a big role, this definetly was the extension of the Authority feud.
And what the creative needs to do now will be let Bryan drop the battle and move on to feuds involving his title.
There are plenty of talent out there which could use Bryan without the Authority’s involvement and Bryan fighting for the title will make him look more like a champion rather than an underdog battling the machine.
#1 Rise of Roman Reigns
Reigns has been touted as the replacement of John Cena for a long time now. WWE gave that claim a push by giving him the spotlight on both Royal Rumble and Survivor Series. However at WrestleMania the whole Shield ended up being booked badly.
And WWE now has Extreme Rules to make up for the mistakes.
Unlike the other opportunities, they also have three well established names in form of Randy Orton, Batista and Triple H who could give Reigns that big moment.
Though it all depends on the team winning, Reigns would be the spotlight and the one who comes out looking great in the match.
His teammates turning could not be ruled out as well, but whatever happens, Reigns might come out as the biggest star of Extreme Rules.
