CM Punk has left the company in January and hasn’t been back since. There are few chances that he might come back at next year’s WrestleMania and provide fans biggest shock of the season. However, there are other big names that could make fans jump off their seat anytime. Here is a look of 5 possible returns that can happen for a match at WrestleMania 31.
#5 Daniel Bryan
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
In recent interviews, Bryan discussed about he has no idea when he might return. He also stated that if he doesn’t need a second surgery, then it might be two months or so. If a second surgery happens, then it will take at least three months recovery time. In any case, it is more likely that he will return by the time we are near to WrestleMania 31. If it happens, it would be a great moment for the fans.
2014 has proved to a mixed year for Bryan. He was the main event guy in WrestleMania 30, won championship and faced his first major injury in wrestling. Fans always backed him in a huge way and when he gets back in that ring it’s going to be a big deal. WrestleMania 31 could be that big moment when he will make the much anticipated return.
A match with John Cena could be amazing as the two already displayed at Summerslam 2013 what they are capable to pull off together.
#4 Batista
Batista left WWE earlier this year on the night after “Payback” pay-per-view. He “quit” the company in storyline due to the promotions of his film “Guardians of the Galaxy”. Now that the film has released, Batista could come back to WWE at any time. If that happens before next year’s WrestleMania , it could have been a great surprise return. His deal with the company was for 2 years starting from January 2014. However, there are possibilities that changes could occur in his contract due to few reasons.
Firstly, he will be going to get more movie offers after the success of his last flick. He is 45 years old now with a long list of injuries in his career and he is certainly not going to put a risk at his acting career by wrestling full time. Another reason is that his last run at the company gone pretty badly. Fans booed him as a babyface that turned out his character eventually into a heel. His matches were not good either in those 4 months he worked.
In his latest interviews, he discussed how he wants to come back to WWE and wants his last match to be against Triple H. If that happens at Wrestlemania 31, it’s going to be huge.
#3 The Rock
The Rock comes back to the company again and again for one simple reason: he loves it. There are various reasons that fans are going to see him in the ring at next year’s WrestleMania. First reason is that there are many opponents in present roster that could compete with him. Rumors are going on all around since a long time for his potential match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Their last match was back at SummerSlam 2002 and collision of these two star powers would be an incredible sight at WrestleMania 31.
A match with Triple H could also provide huge nostalgia for the fans of Attitude era. It would be a perfect throwback to the fans that watched them wrestle so many times over a decade ago. Probability of a match with Sting can’t be denied either. Bray Wyatt, Cesaro and his cousin Roman Reigns are other great options.
WrestleMania 31 is going to take place on March 29, 2015. On April 3, Fast & Furious 7 starring The Rock will be released. What could be a better way to promote a major motion picture than appearing at WrestleMania? He only needs to make few appearances leading up to his WrestleMania match.
#2 Stone Cold Steve Austin
Reports are emerging that Austin is getting back to the gym as preparation for a shot at a comeback in the WWE. With just six months away from the showcase of immortals, his preparations indicates that there is probably and in-ring return for The Texas Rattlesnake. If this does happen, there are huge chances that he is going to face The Beast Incarnate. Austin has already stated that he would like a match with Lesnar at WrestleMania and next year could be the best time to see these two great wrestlers go one on one.
It would be a logical move since Austin and Lesnar have some history together. The last time these two were at odds was at WrestleMania 20, when Austin was the special referee of the Lesnar-Goldberg match. He gave both the wrestlers his renowned Stunner at the end, so the match at next year’s WrestleMania does make sense.
Also, watching the Stone Cold saying catchphrases, drinking beer, giving stunners to many in the roster and then following up to the match at Wrestlemania 31 would be a treat in itself.
#1 Undertaker
The Phenom has been with the WWE for two decades. He has been one of the company’s biggest stars in his time and there are only few wrestlers who could match his potential. However, what happened at WrestleMania 30 seemed that The Phenom wanted to end it all eventually. Brock Lesnar defeated him at the grandest stage and wrote his name in history books. Undertaker suffered a concussion during the match among many other injuries and it felt like this was the last match of a Legendary career. However, things are looking changed right now.
Wrestling legend Sting signed on to be part of the WWE and he has shown interest to wrestle The Deadman in his interviews in recent months. Undertaker also expressed his feelings for the same in the past and if it happens, the biggest return of the year is awaiting the fans at WrestleMania 31.
A dream match several WWE fans have wanted to see for years would be great to finally happen at the grandest stage.
