Some people out there have a misconception that making it to the WWE is enough for a wrestler. However, in reality, it is only the beginning. There are a lot of examples for the same in the company’s history, and then some on the current roster as well.Getting lost in the WWE’s midcard is probably one of the worst things for a wrestler. It is a trap in simple words as one cannot go up or down even with some great skills in their pocket. The increase in the number of such superstars is an alarming issue for the WWE creative. This list might go on increasing as we go further into the future but before that lets take a look at which all superstars are currently being wasted in the lower card.
#5 Fandango
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Fandango’s career in the WWE started off with a bang. WWE put him in an angle with Chris Jericho right away and though Jericho was nowhere near his prime, he was still a big name during that time.
WWE waited all the way till WrestleMania to let Fandango make his debut. It ended in a fairy tale fashion as well when Fandango got a clean win over Jericho. That was his epitome of fame. Something somewhere went wrong for the ball room dancer and he soon slipped down the ranks.
The fans were not buying into the gimmick and though WWE tried to revamp it by adding Rosa Mendes into the mix recently, Fandango is still struggling.
#4 Adam Rose
The reason for Adam Rose’s promotion into the main roster before half of the NXT guys was the success of his gimmick. He was a phenomenon among the NXT fans and WWE assumed that it will morph into the bigger crowd as well.
Some bad booking and horrible decisions however worked against Rose. Before the party animal gimmick, Rose played the Leo Kruger character in NXT. He showcased a lot of wrestling skills during that time but was limited from doing the same after the transition.
Rose currently has no storyline whatsoever in the main roster as the only thing he does now is dance around with his rose buds.
#3 Titus ONeil
The WWE Universe is apparently split on Titus O’Neil. Some fans like him and some fans don’t but it is only fitting to appreciate him for his talent. No matter what opportunity he gets, Titus manages to evoke emotions among the fans.
He had a good run as part of the Prime Time Players. The team was so close in winning the tag championships but was eventually broke up by the company before that.
Titus then tried to have a singles run and it never took off properly. He has the talent and skills to reach the top someday but for now, he is stuck in the lower reaches of the roster just like everyone else on the list.
#2 Jack Swagger
Jack Swagger was someone for which the company had high hopes. Vince McMahon wanted to push him as the next Kurt Angle and even gave the same submission move. Things were going good for the Real American initially and he went all the way to win World heavyweight championship as well.
After dropping the title, he was pushed down into the midcard. Swagger was shuttled back and forth by the creative team and the only time he settled was with Cesaro during the Real American run.
The team’s break up was the final nail in Swagger’s coffin. He did have a feud with Rusev but still, Swagger is nowhere near where he should be for his talent.
#1 Luke Harper
Luke Harper’s career was supposed to reach some heights after breaking up with the Wyatt Family. He was the most rated performer in the trio and had a bright singles career ahead of him.
When Harper won the Intercontinental championship, he seemed destined to reach places. However, after he ended up in the losing side of the Survivor Series traditional match, things turned upside down for the former Brodie Lee.
Despite delivering some solid matches, Harper was pushed down into the midcard with no feud whatsoever. There were a lot of potential angles for him but the company stuck with random bookings to guarantee the talent wastage.
