When was the last time you found the WWE boring in the recent past? The answer to that would be almost every time. This is because of the monotony that associates itself with the sport rather well.Week after week, PPV after PPV it is the same authority vs face of the company feud. The angle seems to be going nowhere and the WWE seem to remain mum about the whole issue dishing out new angles of the same feud all the time. So, as conventional wrestling fans, let us take a look at what exactly this company needs to bring an air of freshness and keep the imagination of the fans withheld at the same time.
#1 Bring in an authentic General Manager
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
I get a feeling of nostalgia every time I remember seeing Eric Bischoff enter the ring and throw his weight around to the show to the world who’s boss!
What this company needs is an arrogant, authentic and bad a** general manager. Gone are the days when feuds centered around GM’s were really interesting. Now a days, its all about Triple H and friends taking turns talking on the mike about the same superstar and how they are going to teach him a lesson in respect ( YAWN ).
Remember the times when Survivor series was the PPV to watch out for? Brand warfare kept the entire issue relevant. Or try to recollect how DX and the McMahons settled their differences? Or how Stone Cold had to retire in one of the most epic Survivor series match ups ever.
All I can say is get in a GM with some charisma , not Brad Maddoxx !!!
#2 Get Jim Ross back
‘To err is human, to forgive divine’.
Yes, Mistakes do happen and people tend to get a little carried away by the occasion. Can’t blame good o’l JR for it, can you? The WWE did the right thing by cracking the whip when it mattered to prevent further escalation of the issue. But when you see the contribution JR has done to this company, some leniency can surely be allowed.
Jim Ross has been the voice of the WWE for over two decades and has always held the imagination of the fans. His JR’isms are what kept us glued to the television to say the least. He can make an elbow drop sound like a nuclear bomb explosion and that is what the WWE needs right now rather than aimless commentators promoting all of WWE’s commodities and forgetting about the match taking place.
#3 Bring in more stables
A huge reason why the Attitude Era was so succesfull was the presence of a large number of talented stables. DX, The Corporation, The ministry of Darkness, The Nation of Domiantion, The Hart Foundation etc are just some of the fine examples we have in store.
What the WWE needs to do is try to build good stables to make midcarders and lower mid carders more relevant. This inturn will reduce the burden of trying to promote talent individually. Feuds centered around Stables and how they vie for domination will make things very interesting.
A stable consisting of lets say.. Hispanics will be a great way to start things. The WWE has plenty of them and they have a chance to stay more relevant in the current scenerio.
#4 Revive Smackdown
Smackdown has been the breeding ground for a lot of promising talents over the years. Superstars like Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, JBL, Brock Lesnar etc have climbed up the Smackdown ranks to make it big in the industry.
One fine day, the WWE decided to kill the brand and took away the coveted World heavyweight title from its clutches. Then, the entire show that was once the highlight of a Friday was reduced to a ‘taped show’ in front of a live audience.
Reviving Smackdown could ease out the WWE’s need for more airtime and also give superstars ample ring time.Things like WWE Draft and ‘weeklies’ oriented PPV’s could also come into play.
Besides all this, it was a show monikered by the Rock and he would surely love to see it back
#5 Do a WWE vs TNA PPV
This is a dream for every wrestling fan in the world. And I for one would advocate this more than anybody else.
Imagine a tag team match between the Uso’s and team 3D? Imagine a feud between Antonio Cesaro and Christopher Daniels? Or even imagine Kurt Angle taking on Daniel Bryan in an iron man match.
These mouth watering set of matches are possible if and only if the WWE and TNA reach a common agreement to give the wrestling fans around the world a treat of epic proportions.
A PPV themed on the above would outclass the Invasion angle in the WWE for sure. Fans have craved for this for far too long and we hope that our prayers don’t go in vain.
