The professional wrestling business world witnessed one of the most shocking releases in recent history when WWE decided to let go of their Mexicos greatest export, Alberto Del Rio.The news around the block suggests that Del Rio was fired due to the unprofessional deed he did backstage. There are a plethora of rumors going around what actually led to the release of ADR, but for the moment, lets just stick with the official story.Del Rio was a great in ring worker without any doubts and release on behavior ground has urged us to take a trip down the memory lane. So here is a look at some of the big names that got served for breaking the rules.
#5 Daniel Bryan
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
This one is probably going to be the most surprising name in the list for fans that aren’t aware of Bryan’s Nexus days. After making it big in the Independent circuit, he was hired by the company and was put into the NXT.
Soon when WWE decided to make an angle out of the whole thing, Bryan was supposed to be an instrumental figure in the Nexus faction.
The whole idea was to let the rookie run wild and take over the main roster and Bryan was fired for doing just that. In the attack that Nexus made on the June 7th 2010 edition of Raw, Bryan showed too much commitment to his character and ended up strangling ring announcer Justin Roberts with his tie.
The PG struck WWE sponsors and official didn’t like the way Bryan did his job and was fired three days later which laid foundation for a stronger return from the former American Dragon.
#4 Paul London
They say that smiling is a good for a longer life, but Paul London is someone who will think twice before he shows the happiness in his face. In one of the unique stories in WWE, London was fired from the company for smiling on live television.
Back in 2007, the company was preparing a ridiculous angle of killing Vince McMahon and for that they had his car explode.
London seeing the explosion somehow produced a smile in his face which McMahon saw as a sign of disrespect to the job. According to McMahon, London was breaking out of his character and this made the company fire London despite being a reputed in ring worker.
He never found a place in WWE after that but went on to make a name in the independent circuit where he still wrestles.
#3 Juventud Guerrera
What happens when you think that you are the Mexican version of Rock? Well in WWE, you get fired. This was the situation with Juventud Guerrera.
Back in the original ECW of Paul Heyman, Juventud was one of the most decorated luchadors. This earned him a spot in WCW later but then he ended up in WWE things turned upside down for the Mexican.
He saw himself being in the level of Rock and John Cena and wanted a similar push. He also bragged about being as famous as the People’s champion in Mexico which started turning the roster against him backstage.
The frustration of not getting pushed like Rock finally caught up with Juventud when he did moves that were banned in the company and eventually cost him his job.
#2 Jeff Hardy
There might not be any other dare devil in WWE who took risks that Jeff was willing to take. He was pitch perfect for the company back in Attitude Era and as the transition was made Jeff tried to adapt in but failed miserably at points.
Though almost many problems have been made by Hardy, it was his drug use that got him fired in 2003. Hardy’s love of getting wasted apparently was getting a lot of heat from the WWE and they finally decided to pull the plug on him.
Hardy then had a stint at TNA after that and two years later; he managed to get fired for the same reason, this time by TNA for not showing up in the shows that he was booked for.
As he prepares for another stint in the WWE, the officials will be well aware of the history that he has and hopefully he won’t end up getting released again.
#1 Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle is one of the greatest in ring workers in professional wrestling, period. And it’s this dedication and love for the business that got him fired from WWE.
Due to the intense style that he bought into the ring, Angle always had many health problems including injuries to his neck, hamstring and groin. He was literally running on fumes by 2006, three years after which the doctors told Angle to retire.
To escape from the pain, Angle had many pills which affected his behavior backstage. Vince McMahon had no other option than releasing Angle saying that the veteran was too dangerous to have around in the squared circle.
This was supposed to be the end of Angle’s wrestling career according to McMahon, but the Olympic gold medalist went on to wrestle on a lighter schedule in TNA and ended up making the company second best in USA.
