Rumors of Bryan’s release have lit up the internetRumors about Daniel Bryan’s release flooded the internet recently. The speculation was easily digestible due to the present situation. Bryan has not wrestled for nearly a year and WWE releasing him would not be a big surprise. There have been reports that there has been no such decision made, but we know how close WWE keeps their cards to their chest. However, like everything else in the world, Daniel Bryan’s release has its pros and cons.Releasing Bryan is a good thing on certain levels while it is a bad, bad thing on others. Let’s take a look at what could potentially happen:
#4 PRO: Bryan gets to wrestle elsewhere
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the Daniel Bryan situation. WWE doctors cannot reach a clear conclusion in Bryan’s matter and they are playing the safe game and not letting him wrestle. If Bryan gets released, the decision on whether or not he should wrestle will be his own. And as far as we know Bryan, he is unlikely to stay away from the ring.
He might change his style a bit, but he will resume his wrestling in some other promotion, probably Ring of Honor. In a fantasy scenario, Bryan could also join TNA or Global Force Wrestling to make them look like big deals.
#3 CON: Backlash from fans
The biggest problem that WWE will face if they release Daniel Bryan is the backlash from fans. Despite his injury, Bryan has a very loyal fan base that is very vocal. The reaction he earns every time he comes out to the ring is proof of this.
If (hypothetical) all of a sudden WWE releases Bryan from their roster, the internet is going to break. The WWE Universe will criticize the product and live shows will be ruined with ‘Yes’ chants. It is going to be a short-term thing just like we saw with the CM Punk situation. However, this is not something that WWE wants heading to the WrestleMania season.
#2 PRO: Financially a good option
WWE had some deep financial problems over the past couple of years. A long list of releases happened due to the same. WWE stocks and the financial situation are more stable at this moment but they can always move towards some extra stability. Daniel Bryans release will help them do so.
The exact figures in Daniel Bryans paycheck are unknown but he might be receiving a good figure. And considering that WWE is not making any money because of Bryan, the release of Bryan will be a great thing on financial grounds. WWE could invest the money elsewhere and bringing in some raw talent from the independent circuit.
#1 CON: WWE loses a potential trainer
Daniel Bryan might not be fit to wrestle at the moment, but he has a wealth of knowledge. He is an experienced superstar and his experience could come in handy for the upcoming youngsters in the roster. A string of former WWE superstars took such a path and many of them were successful as well.
If Bryan cannot fit in as a trainer, he could work as a road agent that puts together matches. Dean Malenko is currently working in such a role and just like Malenko; Bryan could do a great job backstage. If he is fit one day, Bryan could have a farewell match as well.
