Season Overview
Manchester City finished 10th under the tutelage of Mark Hughes, with marquee signing Robinho impressing in bits and parts as he finished the campaign with 14 league goals. Verdan Corluka was the only promising player to depart the Citizens as he left to join Spurs for a fee of £8.5 million.
The Citizens were plagued by a dismal away form throughout the season (11 points from 19 matches) and that proved to be their undoing in what started out as a promising season.
New signings Zabaleta and Kompany saw lots of action in what turned out to be a disappointing campaign for the Blues.

#2 2009-10
Season Overview
Robinho, Elano and Sturridge departed as millions were spent on reinforcing the Manchester City strike force with the additions of Tevez, Adebayor and Santa Cruz.
City made a torrid start to the season, which led to the appointment of Roberto Mancini after the dismissal of Hughes in December. In his first few months in the job, the Italian made numerous improvements to the team, such as ironing out its occasional lack of focus and cohesion in defence whilst also improving the overall mentality of the team.
City narrowly lost out on a coveted Champions League spot after losing their last home game to Tottenham Hotspur in a match dubbed as the "Champions League play-off" by the media.
By finishing in fifth place under Roberto Mancini’s guidance, the Blues improved on the previous season’s performance. Tevez bagged 23 league goals in his debut season while Emmanuel Adebayor and Craig Bellamy chipped in with 14 and 10 goals respectively.

#5 2012-13
Season Overview
For the first time since 2008, no signings were made to bolster the attack. Mancini used funds cautiously to strengthen City’s weakness by shoring up the defence with the likes of Javi García, Matija Nastasic and Jack Rodwell, as troublesome forward Mario Balotelli was offloaded to AC Milan.
Adam Johnson(Sunderland) & Nigel De Jong(AC Milan) were also among the notable names to depart.
However, City were unable to repeat their Premier League heroics of the previous season as they finished runners-up to city rivals Manchester United. Roberto Mancini was let go days before the end of the season and was replaced by Brian Kidd for the remaining fixtures in the season.
The Citizens also crashed out of the Group stages in the Champions League.
