England almost got the job done on the second day of the 4th Test match against Australia at Nottingham as bad light forced an early end. Australia were reeling at 241 for 7 with a deficit of 90 more runs as their middle order failed to fire yet again. Captain Clarke put up another disappointing show with the bat coming in at number 5 as his opposite number declared England’s first innings at 391 for 9. We take a look at how the day panned out via some images:
#1 Centurion dismissed early

Not many would have expected overnight centurion Joe Root to get dismissed before the night watchman Mark Wood, but that’s exactly what happened. Nevertheless, he got the job done.
#2 6 for Starc

Australia’s only hope was wickets. And they got it from their strike bowler Mitchell Starc as he kept probing with some swing. He ended up with 6 wickets to his name.
#3 Moeen counter-attacks

England would be thanking Moeen Ali for his counter-attacking 38 which helped England go past 350 after their disastrous start to the day. They declared at 391 for 9.
#4 100 runs for the opening wicket

Trailing by 331, the Aussie openers had their task cut-out. And they did deliver with a 100-run opening partnership as both batsmen went past 50.
#5 The no-ball that didn\'t matter

England showed some signs of frustration when Rogers was dismissed off a no-ball, but before they even got out of it, the veteran gave away his wicket off the very next over.
#6 Fans turned up, the players didn\'t

The fans were there, they have always been there. But, unfortunately they were let down big time by their players.
#7 The man of the moment

Ben Stokes was the man of the moment. He got swing continuously and troubled the Aussies at a time when the other English bowlers couldn’t get a breakthrough.
#8 Couldn\'t keep him out

The man was in the thick of action throughout the innings as he pounced on a good low chance to send Steven Smith back to the pavilion. He finished the day with 5 wickets.
#9 The expression says it all

The skipper had another torrid outing and one wonders if this would be his last Test match. He hung in there only for 37 deliveries.
#10 Job well done

90 more runs to avoid an innings defeat, just 3 wickets remaining. What will Australia do on day 3 with Adam Voges and Mitchell Johnson?
