Five best Indian fast bowlers

Amar Singh

#3 Javagal Srinath

Javagal Srinath celebrating one of his test wickets

The Right handed fast bowler from Karnataka was one who believed in speed and pace. He had bowled a delivery of 149.6 kmph in the 1999 world cup sending the speed guns dizzy. It is also believed that he delivered one at 157 kmph against Zimbabwe in 1997 at Paarl.

Besides being fast he was also mostly accurate which helped him pick up 315 wickets in ODIs making him the only Indian fast bowler to cross the 300 mark in One day Internationals. He is the joint highest wicket taker across all world cups for India alongside Zack who also had taken 44 wickets. He has managed to pick up 533 wickets in first class cricket, a record containing 23 five wicket hauls.

Javagal had to wait to become Indias spearhead until Kapils retirement, but he never compromised on the luxury of speed with which he was gifted. He will always be remembered for his 6 wickets against South Africa in 1996 which not only helped his team avoid defeat but also win the match.
